Baking: Meringue Christmas Trees




What You'll Need:

Four Egg Whites
250g Caster Sugar
Green Food Colouring Gel
Sprinkles to Decorate
Greaseproof Paper
Piping Bag
Star Nozzle



Step One -

Preheat the oven to 120ÂșC and line baking sheets with greaseproof paper


Step Two -

Whisk the egg whites until soft peaks are formed, then gradually add half the sugar, whisking well each time you add more. Mix in some green food colouring gel, until you get the desired colour, then add the remaining sugar and whisk until soft peaks are formed and the meringue appears glossy.



Step Three -

Prepare your piping bag before spooning the mixture into the bag (it helps to put the bag into a large glass or something similar here).



Step Four -

Pipe Christmas Tree shapes (think cupcake swirls) onto your prepared baking sheets and add your decorations.



Step Five -

Bake for 1 hour until the meringues appear crisp.
Allow to cool and enjoy!
