Leazes Park

Image
On the same day as I visited Fulwell Quarry, my fiancé and I headed to Leazes Park in Newcastle on the evening. There were a few locations in the park I wanted to get some photographs of, but to my surprise - the park was absolutely full of people! Every time i've visited in the past (always for college I think, and usually in late winter) the park has had maybe three other people wandering around, but today the park was filled with people, most of them students relaxing after a day of lectures. I didn't get the photographs I went for, but I did get a few, and I plan on going back to take the photographs I originally went to get. Here are a few that I took: Follow this blog on BlogLovin' Like us on Facebook

Fulwell Quarry

Image
On the morning of the 21st of April, it was warm and sunny so I decided to get ready and head out on an adventure. I live very close to Fulwell Quarry, and its not somewhere I really like to visit at all - never mind on my own! Now-a-days its frequented by groups of adolescents who gather to drink, start fires and race their stolen cars (my first car was stolen - and found in the quarry with one from two streets away!). In the morning, especially on a school day, its a quiet and peaceful place, you see quite a few people walking their dogs, but nothing else going on. Its a beautiful place, the only thing spoiling it is all the littering that goes on - I don't think I saw a single tree that didn't have a plastic bag stuck in its branches. The first thing I noticed when I got onto the quarry is that someone has decided a big, open field where drunk youths hang out is the perfect place for three horses to be chained down! The entire field was just full of horse wa

Wicked

Image
On Wednesday the 15th of April, my Mam and I went to the 7:30pm showing of Wicked at the Sunderland Empire Theatre. I had bought her the tickets for Mother's Day last year, and she had been looking forward to seeing it ever since. Personally, I didn't think this musical was the best i've seen, in fact, I might even rate it lower than Avenue Q and I didn't really enjoy that either. Don't get me wrong, it did have its moments, defying gravity was probably the best song from the entire musical, its the kind of song that makes you think - and just at the right time as the interval is right after defying gravity. Everyone has a chance to fly - for some reason this line is influential for some fans of Wicked, but deep down, its a line about animal cruelty!  The monkeys looked like they were in agony when they were transformed and grew their wings. I would have liked the dragon to have had a bit more part of the show, when it started it h

The Avengers Age Of Ultron

Image
Last night my fiancé and I went to see The Avengers Age Of Ultron! Stan Lee's cameo in this is my favourite of all of them so far. The movie was great - as expected - but I think the first one was better, there was more of a storyline behind it, the second one is just piecing together bits from other movies - Hydra, finding Loki's sceptre, and a Leviathan even appears in the movie. There are three main new characters here who we haven't seen before (well, two, because technically one of them was in the last XMEN movie) - the three new Avengers throughout the movie are Quicksilver, Scarlett Witch, and Vision. Although at the end we see more new Avengers joining the group, and one main member potentially leaving - or just going away for a while. We also lose was main 'character' who we all know and love - Jarvis, and his replacement - Friday, just doesn't sound right. But don't worry - we don't completely lose Jarvis - he becomes The Visi

My Nan's Birthday Cake

Image
Ok, so my Nan's birthday was actually a few days before my fiancé's birthday, but i'm not going to go in depth about my Nan's birthday, I just want to show you the cake!. As the photocake machine at our local supermarket was broken around the time of the birthdays we just bought one of the plain cakes and decorated it ourselves - I'm pretty happy with it, I would have preferred to get the bigger cake and have had some red icing too (I thought we had some left but we didn't!). But here it is Since I took that photo I added a couple of hearts on, but they were yellow too - no red icing! Theres one each side of 'Nan'. This isn't the first time we've decorated one of these cakes ourselves - this is the one my Mam decorated for me last year. Do you enjoy decorating cakes? Show me some cakes! :) Follow this blog on BlogLovin' Like us on Facebook

Cinderella

A few weeks ago my fiancé and I went to see the new Cinderella film. It's been a very long time since I saw the Disney classic so I couldn't really remember too much of the story (other than the bits about the fairy Godmother and the glass slipper!), I did enjoy the film but it just didn't quite have that 'umpf' to make it stand out against the other films that are due out this year. I like films that make you think, and feel motivated, where as Cinderella was just plain. Here is my fiancé's review: Cinderella, a live action remake of a timeless classic, tells a tale we all know and love: girl loses parents, girls step-mother and step-sisters are mean to her, fairy god mother, Prince Charming, glass slippers and love at first sight. If you don't know how this film ends, you must have been born in a cave and raised by wolves. A couple of interesting points, the mice don't sing, so there's no rendition of The Work Song (Cinderelly)

My Fiancé's Birthday

Image
Sunday was my fiancé's birthday, we had originally planned to spend the day in South Shields or Durham, but the weather forecast wasn't looking too good, and although it didn't rain, it was very windy and cold at times. In the end we had a lazy morning, before heading into Sunderland City Centre and picking up a new suitcase for him for our upcoming trips to Japan and Spain, we got some food and visited a few other shops to pick up some of our holiday things before heading back to our house at around 3:30. We finally set up the Wii U that we got at Christmas! and played a few rounds of Mario Kart after about an hours worth of downloading updates! Here is the cake I bought him. I usually get him a photocake done, but the machine wasn't working when I bought this and I didn't want to leave getting a cake until the last minute so I chose the Big Hero 6 one - he loved the movie so much that we had to see it twice! I don'

The Secret Tsum Tsum

Image
You may remember mentioning on my last Tsum Tsum post that i'd bought seven Tsum Tsum but would only tell you all what six of them were as the seventh is a birthday present for my fiancé. Well, today is his birthday, and by the time this post goes live he'll have already seen his presents, so I can finally show you all the 'secret Tsum Tsum'! Here he is! This is a Grumpy Tsum Tsum, as for the last few years my fiancé has turned into Grumpy! Well, ok, he hasn't. I can't remember where it came from, but now I get him something Grumpy for pretty much every occasion!. He wanted this Tsum Tsum when we were in Florida and we couldn't find one (I don't think they were released yet) and then we couldn't find one in Paris this Valentines either. We did see a couple online but they were all fan made and unofficial. Then when Tsum Tsum came to Clintons, once again, no Grumpy! Then, a few weeks ago when Tsum Tsum ca

Chicken Fries!

Image
If you've ever been to America, or even Twitter, you'll have seen the hype around the US Burger King and their Chicken Fries that seem to come and go from the menu. Well, this month they were finally released here in the UK! I used my next day off work to go and try them, heres what I thought: First off, the box looks cute and eye catching, similar to the chicken nugget boxes from Lawson convenience stores in Japan. Secondly, they were served HOT. Far too often if you order a chicken nugget/strip/etc meal from a fast food chain your chicken will be cold/warmish but never hot. These were so hot I had to leave them to cool! The chicken fries are basically that, fry sized pieces of chicken, only in a seasoned batter. They weren't overly greasy, and tasted better than the chicken nuggets they offer at both Burger King and McDonalds. They're probably not something i'd order every time, as I go to Burger King for their po

New Tsum Tsum

Image
So, on the 31st of March, Tsum Tsum were released at the UK Disney Store, although, surprisingly they're not the first store to get Tsum Tsum in the UK.  The Disney Store have more of a range of characters of Tsum Tsum than Clintons do, and they also have a couple of promotions going on. The first is online only, giving you half price delivery if you add a Tsum Tsum to your basket. The other promotion is for everyone, all you have to do is buy your Tsum Tsum in a Disney Store or on their website and they will give you a stamp/token per Tsum Tsum, you can collect these stamps/tokens and trade them in for special, exclusive pins once you reach 25 and 50 stamps. On the first Tuesday of every month they are releasing new Tsum Tsum lines, so come the 5th of May we will FINALLY have the Big Hero 6 Tsum Tsum collection. The day the Tsum Tsums launched in the UK Disney Stores I couldn't resist placing an order, although I don't think the website had been

Easter Sunday

Image
On Easter Sunday I woke up pretty early, well ok, it was 8:30 but I hadn't gone to bed until around 1am and I'd had little sleep over the entire week! I was planning on going back to sleep until 9am but just got up instead. I spent the morning with my Mam, Nan and little brother before heading out to the beach with my fiancé. We were originally going to head into town and see Cinderella but it was the first nice day of the year, I actually wore a tshirt! A tshirt! I can describe how happy I feel when i'm wearing a short sleeves tshirt, its unbelievable. I really need to move to California. We had walked the long 'tourist' route to the beach as my fiancé needed to visit the One Stop to pick up breakfast for the week, and as it was 'derby day' we made a detour back into the side streets once we passed the shop as the pub crowds were spilling out into the road already, three hours before kick off!  Once we got to the seafront we saw that t

Apple Watch Preorder 10th April 2015

Image
On April 10th, 2015 at 8:01am UK time the Apple Watch became available for preorder. I jumped out of bed that morning, and got online at 7:57am ready and waiting to press "add to basket" on the wishlisted Apple Watch.  If you tried to preorder the watch, you'll have found the same problem I did when I got online - the Apple Store website was 'down for maintenance'! After around 10minutes of continuous refreshing the website came live again and I managed to preorder the Apple Watch. I'm getting it for my fiancé for his birthday next week, but the estimated arrival date is May 12th-26th despite ordering the minute the website went live! Did you manage to preorder one? Whats your arrival date? By 8:30am some people were getting August estimated delivery dates! Follow this blog on BlogLovin'

Home The Movie

I recently went to see Home (well, it was back in March) so I thought I would write up what I thought about the movie. My fiancé and I both enjoyed the movie, and thought 'Oh's character was somewhat similar to Jim Parson's Sheldon character on Big Bang Theory, some of the lines that Boov came out with were just too similar! Personally, I thought the trailer ruined the movie as 90% of the best scenes were shown in the trailer, so it was a bit of a downer when you saw the movie after you've seen the trailer so many times but its still definitely worth seeing (although, perhaps when its out on DVD or if you go on cheap Tuesdays like we did). The ending is a tear-jerker mind, so bring the tissues! I won't give any spoilers, just be prepared for that ending! I asked my fiancé for his review of the movie and he said the following: " Home is the story of a little alien called "Oh" who discovers the meaning of 'family' from a

Happy Easter!

Image
Happy Easter everyone! I hope you all enjoy your day. I'm glad to be having a day off work today, and my next one isn't until Thursday now. Then I should be getting more time off again, so check back for more and better posts! I do have a post to write up about Newcastle Film & Comic Con but I won't have the time to write about it until I get more time off. Follow this blog on BlogLovin'

The Apple Watch

I had been eagerly awaiting the release date announcement for the Apple Watch since we watched the iPhone 6 keynote while we were in Florida last year, I personally don't want one, really, well not enough to buy one, and i'll explain why a little later in this post.  I ended up working over the keynote so I missed it, but thankfully my fiancé watched it for me, although he sent me more information on the new MacBook than the watch, which was what I asked him to send me the information on! I had been planning on preordering one as a surprise for his birthday, but on the day of the keynote I unfortunately found out it doesn't come out until a few days after his birthday, so I had to discuss it with him and now its not a surprise anymore. So come April 10th i'll hopefully be preordering a Apple Watch Sport in space grey with a black strap and the larger screen - i'd asked him which one he thought was the nicest a week before the keynote, and obviously, if he

Newcastle Film & Comic Con

I went to Newcastle Film & Comic Con on March 29th, it was my first time visiting a showmasters event as i'd missed the first Newcastle Film & Comic Con event last year as my fiancé and I were in London celebrating his birthday. I saw a few of my friends throughout the day, but quite a few of them couldn't get time off work during the weekend. When I bought my tickets I was excited that Craig Charles and Robert Llewellyn we're going to be guests and give a Red Dwarf talk on the Saturday (I couldn't get a Saturday ticket so was planning on queueing up early to get one of the 2000 on the door tickets) but they both dropped out just a few days before the event. I only visited the convention for around four or five hours, and spent the majority of it lurking around in the dealers room,, although it just didn't feel right being at a convention dealer room without their being an Animez stall! (the stalls had sold out when he enquired). I ended up
