99 Days 'Til Christmas!

99 Days 'Til Christmas!

Well there it is, as of today we're down to double digits in our countdown to Christmas.

It still seems far off but its going to creep up quickly from now on so here are a few ways you can get organised, especially if you're already starting to feel the Christmas spirit creeping in.

Advent Calendars

These have been on sale for a week or two already at selected shops. So far i've only seen them in the Poundland stores in the varieties of Peppa Pig, Minnie Mouse, Me to You, The Simpsons, Marvel, Spider-Man and Thomas The Tank Engine.

Sweet Gifts

The sweet and sugary treat gifts and share boxes are now hitting the shelves and some of them have great deals on them already. For as low as £5 you can buy your family sized share tubs of Mars Celebrations and Cadbury Heroes from ASDA, Tesco, and Morrisons.

Debenhams also have their Christmas sweet gifts section open (in Newcastle it is on the top floor near the toilets and bathroom department) where they sell large jars of Retro and mixed sweets.

Wrapping Paper

So far i've only seen wrapping paper available in Debenhams, in Newcastle it is currently being sold in the sweet gifts section. They have single rolls and bumper packs of rolls and bows available, although the prices are quite high for wrapping paper priced at £4.50 for a single roll.

Christmas Cards

I already have most of my Christmas cards in. In January I picked up a few nice sets in the Clintons sale to give out at work. This is a must if you give out a lot of Christmas cards so bare this one in mind for next year.

Last month I was ordering my fiancé's anniversary card from Me To You Online when I saw they also had the Christmas cards available, so instead of placing separate orders I picked up the anniversary card, my Mam's birthday card and then her Christmas cards from me and my brother all at once, this cut down on the shipping costs and waiting times and also means i'm pretty much sorted with only a few family cards left to get.

Make Plans

Decide what you're doing for Christmas and find out what your family/friends are doing too. This way you can get organised in advance if you need to pick up some airbeds and bedding or extra Christmas napkins. Even just knowing how many places you need to set at your table or if you'll be going somewhere else for dinner will help you destress a little.

Christmas Lists

For children its probably a little too early to ask them to write a list out for Santa because new toys are still coming out and you don't want them to get over excited this far before Christmas. But for adults, they probably already know what they want for Christmas, this can give you some time to find the best deal on the gifts for the adults in your family. And don't forget to go through TopCashback!

Black Friday

This year Black Friday falls on November 27th, it's pretty close to Christmas but not so close you need to worry about purchasing express delivery. Black Friday is ideal for picking up some cheaper Christmas gifts, last year I picked up an iPad Mini for my Mam from Tesco as an extra gift because the offer on it was just too good to pass up. This year i'm hoping to find her a new laptop.

Amazon Lightning Deals

During the week of Black Friday Amazon put on lightning deals, they're called that because they can go as fast as lightning. The best way to get what you want through the Amazon Lightning Deals is to check through the full days listings when you get up in the morning, it will tell you the time the deals will go live, if you won't be home then, ask someone who can get online at that time to go in and pick it up for you if its lower than the highest you're willing to pay for it (the price is announced when the deal goes live). Last year I managed to get a new 3D Fujifilm Camera for £97 - currently £199 used! and an Oxford Campus notebook set (5) for £10 - Current price £18.53! The year before I picked up a Mickey and Minnie Mouse cushion for £8.50 - current price £12.58, an O'Neill jumper for £24.99 - current price £39.99, and a Frolicat Bolt Laser toy for £15.78 - current price £24.28.

Stocking Fillers

You can start picking these up now in places like Poundland. You'll easily be able to pick up your chocolates and other treats for your stockings at this time of year and then save the novelties and last pieces for November. If you have a Hawkin's Bazaar near you (they also have an online store) they are basically just a novelty and Christmas stocking gift shop selling everything from mini crayons and playing cards to bigger gifts like RC Helicopters.
