Berlin Trip Planning

Image
With our trip to Berlin only 23 days away it's about time we got sorted and figured out what we're going to do! I've checked the weather forecast a few times and it looks like it'll be around 7-12ºC with some sun and some showers. That's not too bad, I think i'll still pack some thermals though just incase! We're probably going to pick up Berlin Welcome cards, I prefer being set up and ready to use transport rather than figure out what zones and what sort of ticket we need to buy before our train arrives and €30 each is a pretty decent price for three days of travel. Day One Brandenburg Gate Checkpoint Charlie Reichstag Berliner Dom Day Two Zoo & Aquarium *or SeaLife Centre & AquaDom Day Three Mauerpark Charlottenburg Palace It's still just a loose plan and it really should be more solid considering the trip is coming up quick! We still need to do some proper research and see if theres anything else that we really w

Baking: Auntie Annes Pretzels

Image
Last year I picked up a Auntie Anne's Pretzels kit for my Mam as she loved their pretzels when we were in New York and we finally got around to making it a few weeks ago. Here is the kit and its contents. Yeast, dough mix, salt, cinnamon sugar and baking soda. Step One - Dissolve the yeast in 295ml warm water and let it sit for 2min. Step Two - Add the dough mix to the yeast and mix until dough forms. Step Three - Knead on a floured surface for 5-7min Step Four - Place the dough into a greased bowl and cover with lightly greased clingfilm. Allow to rise for 30min in a warm spot. Step Five - PReheat the oven to 218ºC and spray or flour your surface. Cut strips of dough to 1 1/2" wide by 8" long and roll and stretch them to 36" x 1/2" ropes. Step Six - Shape your pretzels! Step Seven - Dissolve and stir the baking soda in 946ml of hot water and grease your baking trays. Step Eight

London Trip Planning

Image
With our quick trip to London coming up in a couple of weeks, we figured it's about time we try to figure out what we want to do and see! To be honest, with this trip just being a quick overnighter to see Aladdin, we aren't really making solid plans. The only thing we really want to do is go back to London Zoo but with the time restraints we're not going to head there this time round. We've decided that if we end up venturing over to Camden Market (I really wanted to try the Thai Icecream place but it looks like it's closed down!) then we'll probably finally get around to checking out the Cereal Killer Cafe and maybe getting some lunch from Mother Clucker. We'll no doubt end up in Covent Garden to pay a visit to the Moomin Shop, as is tradition, so we'll probably be heading into Shake Shack for some of their amazing fries - but if we don't head over there, i'm guessing the Leicester Square branch will finally be open! I can't wai

Baking: Valentines Cake

Image
Ok, i'm not going to go all full blown instructional recipe post here, I just used a packet mix! Originally we were going to make a marble cake but we were pretty sure something would go wrong with the cake so we didn't want to waste time and cake mix on a cake that we'd end up throwing out! Needless to say, the first attempt went very wrong as we (ok, I) overfilled the cake tin. We'd never used it before despite buying it around two or three years ago, so we were bound to have a bad first attempt anyway really! The base, sides and top of the cake were perfectly cooked but the inside was still just cake mix, so we threw that out and used the other half of our cake batter to try attempt two. We turned the oven down and just kept checking on it every five minutes. It turned out pretty well I think! I levelled the cake off and flipped it over.. ...before giving it a nice coating of red icing and handing it over to my fiancé. Did you do

Happy Valentines Day!

Image
I just wanted to take this opportunity to wish all of my readers and visitors a very happy Valentines day! I hope you're all having a great day with lots of treats! My fiancé and I are dragging our Valentines celebrations throughout the entire month, we have a lot of plans but don't have a huge amount of free time to spend together. We made a lovely DIY Chocolate Photoframe together at the beginning of the month, a Valentines cake on Sunday (it turned out a lot better than our surprise Valentines cake!) and plan on making a heart shaped garlic bread together too. We both had work today so we even exchanged gifts on Sunday as we had the entire day together, I might post a what I gave and received post later. Follow this blog on BlogLovin' Like us on Facebook

Disney's Santa Fe Hotel Review

Image
This wasn't my first time staying at the Santa Fe hotel since the Cars retheming took place, but as this is the first time i've stayed here for  years it felt all new to me all over again. The Cars theming and room decor is a lot better than it used to be -and i'm definitely loving the bed sheets they have in the Rio Grande rooms, they're a lot more simple than the standard rooms, those sheets have too much going on! Breakfast was a lot busier than I remember and i'd only ever stayed at the Santa Fe in August before this trip! The breakfast was standard, the same as the Cheyenne but perhaps slightly less items - we couldn't find any individual yoghurt pots and breakfast in the Park wasn't an option in November. The busses were the busiest i'd ever seen, I don't think I ever had to wait for a second bus back when we used to visit in August! Although, back then as the weather is so much nicer, we often walked to the Cheyenne and took the bus

DIY Chocolate Photo Frame

Image
Back when I was in college I came across this Deco Choco video by Ochikeron and decided to make one for my fiancé (then boyfriend) for Valentines day. This is the one I made back then. This year we decided to stretch out our Valentines celebration across the month of February (we do Valentines different every year! We've even done the one gift every day from the 1st-14th February thing! ) and made a chocolate photoframe together. We used a photograph from our most recent trip to Japan, although really, we still have the trimmed down photograph from the original frame stuck in the bedroom mirror so we could have just used that!. Here is a set of instructions to make your own, or you could always click the YouTube link above and visit the video I watched before making our original frame! Step One -  Gather your ingredients. You will need 3 bars of chocolate, a photograph and some sweets. Step Two - Open up your bars of chocolate and decide which one will
