Flight Delay

On the day we travelled home we were scheduled to get the last Air France flight to Newcastle at around 9:30pm, and two minutes before we were due to board the flight we were informed that the plane we should be getting on hadn't even left Dublin yet! So our flight was pushed back two hours, we were given €8 to get "a sandwich and a drink", and with sandwiches costing €6 it wasn't really going to work out that way. My ankle was absolutely killing on our final day so I just sat at the gate with my shoe off for the entire delay. Thankfully my taxi was waiting for me as I left Newcastle Airport, and it was also lucky I still had some £ left over from our departure as our taxi fare had now gone up because it was 1am when we landed so we had to pay a bit extra on top of the prebooked price we had already paid. There was a strike happening at Charles De Gaulle airport the day we left, so its not the norm to be delayed by two hours, and I felt even worse for the

Lovelock Bridge

Image
During our day in Paris we headed over to Lovelock bridge after visiting Notre Dame.  I had ordered a lock from Not on the High Street before leaving for Paris especially for this visit. I know its not the best thing to do, its damaging the bridge, but my lock was incredibly light and I don't mind if they remove it, it was just something i've always wanted to do before they move them all and replace the bridge with glass panels.  The bridge was completely covered, as expected, so if you do intend on putting a lock on the bridge, look on Not on the high street as their locks are quite long so you can squeeze it through a gap in the locks and attach it to the railing. Eiffel Tower

Image
As mentioned in the last post, I went up the Eiffel tower on this visit, its something neither of us have done before but needed to cross off our lists. It was a very grey day, but I think if it was overly sunny it would have ruined the photos I took from the summit. View from Trocadero. View from the second floor. View from the summit. I recommend everyone goes up the tower at least once in their life - or the arc de triomphe, we had planned on going up but because of the weather we decided against it. I only wanted to go up to get a nice photo with the tower in it! Its better if you can book your tickets and time slots at home (they sell out quick, but keep checking back as they release more slots closer to the time - I managed to get mine about two weeks before we went although they'd been sold out for months!) to avoid the long snaking queues that the tower can attract. Paris

Image
We got up at 6am for our 7am breakfast before coming back to the room for an hour, we had planned on going out for an hour of extra magic hours but we still weren't sure when to get the train as we wanted to avoid rush hour.  We ended up heading to the station for 9am, the train arrived just after we got there. We started at the Arc De Triomphe, before heading for an early lunch. My fiancĂ© was caught by a charity/scam worker who targets English speakers, while he was dealing with her I had two more come up to me. First one. "Do you speak English? Sign this" No. "Just sign it" No. "Sign it, its ok" No. *brushes passed me and storms off* Second one "Do you speak English?" *shakes head and walks away* We had tickets to go up the Eiffel Tower at 1pm, the queue took about 20min to get to the lift, and somewhere between the two lifts my ticket went missing, but they let me on the summ

Disney's PhotoPass+ - Disneyland Paris

Image
PhotoPass+ Disneyland Resort & Walt Disney World I have used Photopass+ before in California, and Memory Maker in Florida, they are both essentially the same thing, you buy a pass and then when you have your photo taken by a photographer, with a character or on a ride you can have them put onto the pass for you to download at home, saving you money on prints, and you don't have to worry about the photos being damaged on your journey home. Disneyland Paris Photopass+ is still very new to Disneyland Paris, this is the first time i've visited when they've had the system up and running. They still don't have any photographers lurking around the parks at the Castle etc though so you might want to invest in a selfie stick or something similar if you're travelling alone or as a couple. I recommend buying this pass if you're going to Disneyland Paris for at least three days and plan on meeting characters at their set locations and go

Disneyland Paris

Image
Last week I spent three nights at Disney's Hotel Cheyenne. I didn't spend a full day in the park as we went into Paris on the Tuesday and my fiancé wasn't feeling very well on the Wednesday but its low season and pretty much every ride had a 10minute wait, it was only really Peter Pan that was edging more to 30min, and Ratatouille going up to a 60min wait. This was the first time i've been that i've managed to get the high score on Buzz Lightyears Laser Blast. The ride broke down. Its also the first time we got to use Disney's photopass in Paris. I've not downloaded the photos yet though. On the Wednesday night my ankle started really hurting, not long after a vile woman pushed me in the bag check queue. Its still hurting now, even worse when I wear a shoe (so work is so much fun, limping around in pain!). I think its achilles tendinitis. We watched Dreams on the Wednesday night, its the first time my fiancé has seen it. T

Disneyland Paris

This will be my last post for a little while, as i'm off to Disneyland Paris! Well, i'll actually be there at the time this goes live. I'll write all about my trip to Disneyland, and into Paris when I get back, but until then you can follow me on Instagram, where I will no doubt be posting photos of my trip, daily! New Purse

Image
After losing my Vans purse and struggling to separate my £ pounds and $ dollars on my trip to Florida I decided I needed to get a new purse for my trips this year. I found this one on eBay, its a bit bigger than my day to day purse, and can't hold that many coins, but it has a lot of card slots and theres a section you can put notes in on each side so right now I have € euros in one side, and £ pounds in the other. The delivery was faster than originally predicted and the purse wasn't that expensive either. I'd definitely recommend it for a travel purse, or even a day to day purse for a Disney fan who likes bigger purses. Follow this blog on BlogLovin'

Spending Ban Update

Image
Ah, the dreaded spending ban update! I actually haven't done that bad up to now (11am February 2nd) although I do have three Funko Pops I need to pick up from Animez (so like £30 or so) and I did just order my third print and three new frames (about £160 total, but i'm going to exclude this from the ban). I hadn't bought anything other than food and metro tickets up until a couple of weeks ago, when I bought a new purse as I lost my Vans purse not long after getting back from California (I really hope I can find it, i'd only had it a couple of months!) Since then i've bought a few Valentines gifts for my fiancĂ©, a key holder for our house, and some euros for our Paris trip. Oh, I also booked us a trip to London, and we're booking up for Barcelona for our 10th anniversary soon, and I need to get our Comic con and Sunnycon tickets. So its going to be am expensive ish couple of months, but i'm still holding the spending ban down on impulse pur

The Lion King Musical

In September the Lion King Musical travelled to Sunderland. My fiancé and I got premium tickets for opening night the day they were released. I've seen the show before and it was just as good as when I saw it in London. My fiancé hadn't seen it before and I think it was ruined a bit by the large group of friends/family/kids directly in front of us who were loud, obnoxious and at one point tried to start a fight with the two girls sitting next to us. Every one of the girls/women sitting in front of us were wearing the Hakuna Matata tshirt that Primark had been selling that summer. After the first couple of songs they calmed down a bit, stopped flailing around and blocking peoples view (the fight was because the girl next to us asked the woman to sit up as she was blocking her view when she leaned out into the balcony [despite the balcony having a sign on it asking you to refrain from doing so]) so everyone could go back to enjoying the show, as they didn't sta

Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party

Image
We bought tickets to Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party before we left for Florida, we had considered going there on our first night but decided against it in the end, but after we went to MNSSHP near the end of our trip we really wanted to go again, but the only other one we could go to was the night we needed to pack for our flight home so we didn't manage to get there. The park wasn't that busy as it was only the second week the Halloween parties had been on, and it was still only very early in September. Candy After going on a few rides, collecting a few pressed pennies and having about four turns on Astroblasters we decided to follow the candy trails, it was near the end of the night and one cast member gave me three times as much candy as she gave my fiancé, I just couldn't believe it! Kennedy Space Center

Image
We took a day trip to the Kennedy Space Center during our trip to Florida. It was huge and really interesting, but I never had time to get my photo taken at the NASA globe so i'm devastated about that.  This slide! Its huge and really steep, but so fun to go down. I was a bit scared at first but after not being able to find the stairs (they were literally right there, I don't know how I couldn't find them) we ended up going down it. You had to take off your shoes and bag and hold them and you had to slide sitting up, you couldn't lie back. If you go to KSC you definitely need to try out this slide! Milkyway Icecream I had the best ice cream in my trip to Florida here. Then it started to rain, but nothing could ruin that huge ice cream. The Rocket Garden Interesting to walk around and take a few photos at. I really didn't take too many photos inside the buildings, but its definitely a place to visit if

Hard Rock Hotel, Orlando Review

Image
During our trip to Florida we spent a night at the Hard Rock Hotel, the hotel is amazing, huge rooms, a lovely view, early access to the Universal parks, its definitely worth a stay if you're planning on visiting the Universal Studios parks. I really didn't want to leave after just one night. Here are a few photos to show the room, and I also took a video tour of our room, I don't have much else to say as we didn't spend a whole lot of time in the hotel, but they do have a gift shop which sells merchandise, snacks and drinks. Universal Studios, Orlando

Image
We spent two days in Universal Studios on this trip, and stayed at the Hard Rock Hotel for one night to get the early entry passes to the parks, although in the end we never used them as it was the day the iPhone 6 became available for preorder and we ended up not getting to the parks until 15min before park opening! Universal Studios I preferred this Universal park to the one in California, we played the games in the Simpsons area and I won a giant radioactive man Homer, but I couldn't take him home, i'm actually so devastated. It was quite funny because my fiancĂ© had already had a couple of goes on the ring toss and couldn't win anything, and I won this on my first go :3  Flaming Moe We tried a flaming Moe - they're nicer than butterbeer. Hogwarts Express We took the Hogwarts express a couple of times, but sadly I couldn't get a photo/video of me going through the wall. If you've got a park hopper ticket definitely take

Discovery Cove

Image
We also visited Discovery Cove on this trip to Florida, it is owned by SeaWorld. We booked the dolphin swim, but its not something I ever intend to do again, i'm not really a fan of swimming in general, and haven't swam for about a decade so being in water that gets so deep its more than twice my height wasn't really all that appealing to me! It was a nice relaxing day together, compared to the days in the parks, but we did all have to get out of the water twice due to a thunderstorm threat. The lazy river was my favourite part, although I didn't really like going under the waterfalls, it was nice just to grab a noodle and get dragged along by the current. I even saw some otters on the way. The aviary was good too, but the birds wouldn't come to me, they sat on my fiancé though! Follow this blog on BlogLovin'
