Baking: Gingerbread Village

As i've already finished gift shopping, wrapping, the work Christmas cards and most things Christmassy, my fiancé and I decided to put together our Gingerbread Village yesterday.

We bought the kit from John Lewis and i'd say its well worth the £12.

It came in slabs of scored gingerbread that you had to snap to separate the walls of your buildings - which includes the Toy Workshop, Santa's House, a Gabled House, Bakery and a Chalet. I was so nervous snapping the pieces apart though! I just had visions of me completely ruining the walls and snapping them in half.

The kit comes with sprinkles, gummy hearts and jelly beans but we picked up some jelly tots and rainbow nerds as the colours are more vibrant and work better as Christmas lights! We also bought some icing sugar to bring some snow down on our village and candy canes to add that Christmassy touch.

Here are some photographs of our little village in all its glory.
