Zootopia / Zootropolis Movie Review

Image
Zootropolis (Zootopia) So Rachel and I went to see a movie about a rabbit for easter… We start off with our protagonist Judy Hopps (Guess what animal she is) giving a play about the history of animals which sets the scene for the movie pretty well, fast forward and she becomes the first bunny Police Officer, much to the dismay of her parents. Her father then warns her of carnivores, especially foxes, and gives her some fox-repellant. She gets put on parking duty and meets a fox named Nick Wilde (who looks remarkably like Robin Hood from the Disney animated movie from the 70’s) and his ‘baby’, whom she buys an elephant popsicle but then realises she’s been hustled when she sees them melting the giant elephant popsicle and re-freezing it to sell to mice at a vast profit. Judy hustles the fox into helping her solve a missing person crime. This results in them bonding over a period of time and growing to trust each other. She later breaks this trust when she inadver

Best Western City Moran, Prague Hotel Review

Image
We're back from our trip to Prague, you may have already seen our daily trip report updates we posted a few days after we got back. We stayed at the Best Western City Hotel Moran from March 13th-17th and we really didn't have any problems with the hotel - well, we had one, but it wasn't a big deal, i'll explain that later on. The hotel is really well located, its just a few minutes walk from the Karlovo Námestí Metro station and around 10-15min walk from the I.P. Pavlova Metro Station, making it easy for you to get around, theres also a tram stop opposite the Karlovo Námestí Station if riding a tram is on your to do list for your trip. Breakfast was included in our hotel price, although personally I didn't go down for it, but my fiancé did, he said there was a range of breads, sausages, bacon, eggs, fruit and cereal. The hotel has a small 24 hour mini market available by reception, its a little higher priced than you'd find outside of the hotel,

Newcastle Film & Comic Con - March 20th 2016

Image
Well, its that time of year again! I managed to get the Sunday of Newcastle Film & Comic Con off work so I picked us up a couple of early entry tickets, although we didn't aim to get there until 10am. I don't know if you saw my post from last year, but you can check that out over here , it's in a bit more detail than this year's post is going to be. This year, I think we spent a total of around 40 minutes in the arena. As we were arriving at 10am there were already people leaving. The place just lacked atmosphere, it could have been because the regular ticket holders hadn't been allowed in yet, but its more likely down to poor planning as the event was held over 'derby weekend'. Basically, on the Sunday the regions biggest sporting event was being held in Newcastle, so first there was a lot of people who wanted to watch the football rather than do to the convention, so you lost a chunk of people there, and then as the football match was being h

Prague - Day 5

Image
Our last day! Our transfer was scheduled for 11:30am so we had a pretty lazy and relaxing morning, we finished off a little bit of packing and bought a souvenir from the hotel shop. Our hotel transfer was a little late but we caught our flight on time so it was all ok. The flight was pretty uneventful - there was a little bit of drama during boarding as a couple were told their baby couldn't sit in the exit row, but the father stormed up the plane with the baby and that was the end of the commotion. Prague - Day 4

Image
A little bit of a late start today, we left the hotel around 10:30am and headed towards Prague Castle and Saint Vitus Cathedral. It didn't take too long to get there and we had a look around for an hour or so. We didn't get tickets as we weren't really too interested in seeing the inside of the buildings and we didn't really have the entire day to spend looking around. We also tried Trdlo/Trdelník on this visit, it was ok, I wish we'd tried the chocolate version instead. Next we headed back to Old Town Square as my fiancé wanted to see the Astronomical Clock and we'd managed to miss it on our last visit! We feed the animals again before heading off to get something to eat around the Mustek area. There was a stall selling tornado potato, but we'd just eaten before we saw it so, sadly, we never got to try it! We headed back to the hotel to have a quick warm up and drop off a few things before deciding where to go next. My fiancé decided he wan

Prague - Day 3

Image
I think this was probably our earliest start of our trip, well, the earliest we (I) managed to force ourselves out of our toasty hotel room and go out into the freezing cold! Our first stop was a trip to Candy Store, I'd seen it on a map in the area near our hotel so off we walked, it took around 20 minutes I think, and when we got there I just felt so let down! I was expecting something similar to Dylan's Candy Store in New York, but a bit smaller, but when we got there its just a pretty small room selling a mix of British and American sweets, crisps and cereals, there wasn't even much range - I just wanted a can of Dr Pepper Cherry and I still had no luck here. As we left the store we wandered up the street and noticed a HUGE comic store called Comic Point, but it wasn't open yet, so we continued up the street, ending up at a Cathedral type building - I think it was the Church of Saint Ludmila, but i'm not sure as i'm just trying to find where it

Prague - Day 2 - Prague Zoo

Image
Our first full day, and the best weather we were forecast for the entire trip so we made the most of it with a trip to the zoo! We started our day by contacting our hotel's front desk as the information book in the room says they sell public transport tickets - but when we went to buy them they told us they didn't sell them! A bit confusing, but they sent us to the nearest Metro station, which was Karlovo Namesti, which we found didn't have a ticket office! so off we went again, and walked over to I.P. Pavlova, which thankfully did have a manned ticket office! After about 10min of queuing we finally had our 72 hour public transport passes! They were around 310kc each. Finally, we were on our way. We took the metro to Nádraží Holešovice, and then caught the bus to Zoologická Zahrada, its the last stop on the bus. The tickets for the zoo were 200kc each, but you can't prebook them online so you do need to queue up and buy your ticket on the day. There wa

Prague - Day 1

Image
We had a bit of a crazy rushed morning finishing off some packing and planning before our flight in the early afternoon. Because of our flight times we didn't land in Prague until around 5:30pm so all we had time to do on our first day was get to our hotel and then head out to find some food. We had a nice early, cosy night ready for the next few crazy days ahead! Follow this blog on BlogLovin' Like us on Facebook

NEW Disney Purchases - March 2016

Image
I didn't really buy much this month if i'm honest! I'm not going to include this months Tsum Tsums as they get their own blog posts pretty much as soon as they arrive! So here are my new Disney purchases from this month and where you can pick them up yourselves :) Chip & Dale Mug I got this from the Disney Store in Sunderland and can't seem to find it on the website while i'm writing this but i'm sure it'll be put online at some point. This mug cost £7.95 and although i'm on a 'mug ban' I just had to have it. It's my new favourite mug! Stitch Mug Like with the Chip & Dale mug this was bought from the Disney Store in Sunderland and doesn't seem to be available on the website at the time of writing this! It was the same price at £7.95. Other than Tsum Tsums thats all the Disney I bought this month! Which is pretty surprising really! Follow this blog on BlogLovin' Like us on Facebook

Nanoblock: Tokyo Disney Resort: Wedding Mickey Mouse

Image
It's time for another Nanoblock building day! This time I put together the Dreaming of a Happy Wedding Mickey Mouse figure. It was probably one of the easiest Nanoblock figure kits i've put together, and I say that just because the head attached at the ended really quickly and easily! With some of the other kits i've had to rearrange and remove bricks to get the heads to stay on and sit properly. Next time we'll put together the Minnie Mouse version! What I Bought In Japan - Part 3

Image
Japanese Garden This was the last thing we picked up, we got it in Narita Airport on our way home. Giant Torii We picked this up during our visit to Miyajima Island so we could remember our trip. We looking at going back there this year as we didn't really have a lot of time to look around! (sorry for the bad photos of these two, theres pretty bad lighting in that room!) Yokai Watch McDonald's Fry Holder This was something you could add on to your order at McDonalds, and it was just so cute that I needed it. I didn't even know what Yokai Watch was before this. Jibanyan is just the cutest though. Tsum Tsum (Excluding Shellie May) Station Master Mametchi We picked this up in the Tamagotchi shop at Character Street. We also picked up our Tamagotchis there, you can see mine in Part 2 . Tokyo Disneyland Hand Fan Our first necessary non-consumable purchase! Chip & Dale Tshirt They didn't have

I Want To See The World

Image
If you've been following me for a while i'm sure you'll know just how much I want to travel! I've wanted to travel since I was in school and saved pretty much everything I could, when I graduated college I had planned on going on a gap year of travelling but none of my friends had saved up their part for the trip! I ended up spending £11,000 on a new car, which I don't really drive all that often. Bit of a waste really. But since then i've visited California (LA, Anaheim, San Diego), Florida (Orlando), New York, Japan (Tokyo, Okunoshima, Miyajima, Hiroshima, Kyoto and Osaka), London, Paris (about five times!) and Barcelona, with Prague, and another trip to Paris and Japan booked for this year already. I've started trying to compile a list of where I still want to go and some places I want to revisit but it's like I have 'travellers block' I can't really think of where I want to go anymore, its been so long since I spent all of

Workspace Wishlist

Image
I really want to work on my workspace soon, I definitely need a new desk, but until I get a new iMac I'll probably just stick with the one I have as my 27inch iMac is from 2009 so its way too heavy for any of the nice desks you can buy now, they're all designed for flimsy little laptops! Hipster Mickey Print  by Jerrod Maruyama Photo Credit You may already know that I absolutely adore Jerrod Maruyama's Hipster Mickey collection and I already have three across my wall, but this is the next one I need, and I only have space for one more. I'm pretty sure i'll be ordering this next time I order from the US Disney Store!  Hallmark Plaque Photo Credit I've wanted this plaque for a while but the Hallmark website won't deliver to the UK and when I was about to have it sent to my hotel in New York it had gone out of stock - it's still out of stock now but i'm hoping that eventually i'll be able to pick one of these up, or even jus
