New York - Day 2 - Central Park, 5th Avenue and Times Square

Image
We got up quite late on our first day - around 7:30am although I think i'd been awake since around 6! We got some breakfast and made our plans for the day before heading out around 10am. We made our way up 5th Avenue, stopping at a few shops along the way, including Ricky's Halloween shop, a souvenir shop or two, and the Lindt shop while remembering a few we wanted to pay a visit to on our way back from Central Park rather than carrying shopping around all day. Once we got to Central Park we were greeted by this little guy below, and a lot of his friends. I love squirrels but we don't really see them where I live, the only place i've seen them is in Saltwell Park in Gateshead. The closest things we get where I live are hedgehogs, pheasants and foxes that wander into our street at night from Fulwell Quarry.  We spent a couple of hours wandering around the park, its huge! Its a very nice and beautiful park but it could definitely do with more

New York - Day 1 & Getting There

Image
We had a somewhat early start, making it to the airport for 7am - our taxi actually got us there for 6:30 so we waited around a little while before going to drop off our bags and heading up through security. There wasn't much of a queue for security and once we got through we visited a couple of shops and got something to eat at Burger King before our gate opened around 8:30. Not long later we arrived in London and had to change terminal. I have to say London Heathrow is the worst airport i've ever connected at, having to go through security again is a pain that drained us of time and, obviously, meant we had to throw away any drinks we'd taken onto our original flight. The selection of food places in the terminal were very low, but there were plenty of places to buy clothes/perfume. We had just about enough time to grab a new drink from a vending machine before our gate opened. Onto our American Airlines flight, it boarded quickly and the plane o

Pre-Disney Trip Ideas

Image
Is your countdown already getting you excited? Or are you trying to get over the Disney holiday blues? No matter, we've got you covered with a few fun Disney themed ideas. 1. Candy Boxes These candy boxes are a printable craft from the Disney Family website , they have many others including Valentines themed ones. Perfect for parties and small treat gifts, you can fit a few small sweets or chocolates in them. Celebrations and similar sized treats are the perfect size for these little boxes. 2. Cupcakes These are just regular cupcakes but the toppings make them that little bit more special. They're topped with smarties arranged into Mickey head shapes and moulded chocolate Mickey heads. If you don't have a Mickey head chocolate mould you can get them from eBay for pretty cheap. I got mine from Poundland but it was about four years ago so chances are they won't have them anymore. 3. Biscuits/Cookies Biscuits and cookies are a qui

PeanutizeMe

Image
As i'm sure you're all aware, theres a new Peanuts movie coming to cinemas just before Christmas this year, and there has been a website set up called PeanutizeMe , its essentially the same as the old SimpsonizeMe website that came out in anticipation for The Simpsons Movie a few years ago only this time, it's with Peanuts characters! I decided to give it a go after seeing Sonny Strait (voices Krillin in Dragon Ball Z) upload his Peanutized image onto Facebook. Here's what I ended up with for me I did mine first and somehow didn't notice that there were colour options for the clothes! but I think it turned out pretty well anyway even if the colours are a little bit wrong for what i'd be wearing. And here's how my fiancé turned out I'd noticed the colour options by this point so this one turned out a bit better than mine! I can't wait to see the new Peanuts Movie this Christmas, Empire cinemas are startin

Stock Photography

Image
As a photography graduate myself I found myself lost when I graduated, 'where do I go now?' I thought. I had found myself a part time retail job to fund myself, but its just not what I love. How do I keep taking photographs and what should I do with them? I started my photography blog which you can see here. I post there on a Wednesday and Sunday at 10am UK time. But that still just wasn't enough, it kept me shooting new work so I had something to share, but I felt my work was slipping as I was doing it just so I didn't miss an upload slot. Then I thought, what about stock photography? It wasn't something that was mentioned that greatly in classes, although it was mentioned briefly how you could earn a fair amount if your work was ideal for say a book cover, but generally, you only make around 12p per download. I looked into it and joined a few websites which I will write about below, but first I want to tell you about the payments, as I mentioned

The Disney Family Website

Image
If you're a Disney nut like me and haven't already done so, i'd recommend you head right over to Disney Family when you've finished reading this post. Disney Family is basically a separate section of the Disney website aimed at, you guessed it, families. Its full of recipes and crafts to make together. party invitations and cupcake cases to make your parties that extra bit special, and even Valentines candy gift boxes. Right now the website is full of Disney inspired Halloween pieces from party invitations, pumpkin carving temples, cupcakes and themed trick or treat bags so make sure you head over there if you're still stuck on ideas, theres not long to go now! Personally, I can't wait to see what comes up on the website nearer to Christmas! Here are a few of Disney pieces and ideas i've taken from the Disney Family website over the last few years. Here's the Stitch papercraft Valentines candy box I made a couple of years ag

15 Autumn/Winter Date Ideas

Image
Cold weather got you down? Don't know where to go now you can't have as much fun at the beach? Well, we've got you covered! Here are 15 of our Autumn and Winter Season date ideas, for the most part you'll be warm and cosy but still enjoying all the Seasons have to offer. Pumpkin Carving & Halloween If you're home over Halloween you can get pumpkins and carving kits and carve out a pair of pumpkins together. You could even theme them so they match. Or if that's not your thing, you could host or go to a Halloween party together. If you're going to or live near a Disney Theme Park you should definitely go to one of their Halloween night events, last year we went to Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party in Florida, where for the first time in years we got to Trick or Treat! I got a mountain of candy and ended up taking most of it into work for my friends. Pillowforts A really warm and cosy date idea! Grab your blankets,

Tomorrow!

Its that time again! Tomorrow i'm off on my travels once again, this time i'll be visiting New York. It's my third time to America but my first to New York so i'm excited to see what the city has to offer. Its my shortest trip to America and the only non-Disney Park related one but its for my Mam's birthday so its not really up to me what we do anyway! As always, you can keep up to date on Instagram Follow this blog on BlogLovin' Like us on Facebook

Fenwick Christmas Floor

Image
On Saturday October 10th the Christmas floor at Fenwick Newcastle finally opened! Unfortunately, my fiancé started his new job on Monday the 12th and it's in York! So we couldn't make it there until Thursday the 15th which means I had to spend days itching to go! The Fenwick Christmas floor is my favourite part of Christmas - in a shopping centre anyway, and thats if you exclude the Fenwick Christmas window. Usually at Christmas, i'd spend my time there while waiting for my fiancé's Metro arriving at Monument, but this year he's working a mix of in York and at home, so i'll have no waiting around or little adventures around it writing out a shopping list this year. This year they've decorated the floor a lot nicer in my opinion. Last year was very untraditional and Alice in Wonderland theme (which broke the surprise when the window was unveiled as it was also Alice in wonderland themed!), this year it's traditional with presents and s

Sunderland Illuminations 2015

Image
On Sunday the 11th of November my fiancé and I walked down to Roker Park via Seaburn beach to check out this years Sunderland Illuminations and the new things that have come since last year. The first things we noticed after getting to the beach was that there is a funfair in the old abandoned fairground this year, which is also where all the noise has been coming from that has been keeping him awake! The funfair was very small with only a few rides and a couple of food places, pretty expensive considering the seafront is filled with cheaper and better food establishments! As we left the fair we stopped off in Seldons Leisure World for about 10min or so, after noticing they had a big petition up on the door - the revamp of the seafront is threatening to close the arcade and they've asked all of their customers to sign the petition to show the council that we want them to stay.  If you're in the area, please go sign it! After that we walked down towards t

Europe 2016 Update

We've finally started planning our Europe trip for next Summer! We're looking at Prague, Rome, Pisa, Berlin, Vienna and of course, heading back to Disneyland Paris for a few days at the end of the trip. I turn 25 next year and would love to stay at the Disneyland Hotel for my birthday, but my birthday is a public holiday pretty much everywhere in the world except the UK so the prices climb even higher! Current price for 2 nights, 2 adults during my birthday is £1344.56 just for the hotel and park tickets. I did a quick mock up of flight prices last week, giving us a total of £421.50 each without our transport between Prague - Rome, Pisa - Berlin and Berlin - Vienna. As we can't book those three flights yet I don't want to book our current flights incase the dates get messed up as those three flights are going to have to be with EasyJet as nowhere else seems to fly between them and if you go with AirFrance you need to connect at Paris or Amsterdam for an hour

KamaCarrze Beads

Image
I recently interviewed Ryan Carr of KamaCarrze beads about his relatively new Hama Bead business, here is what he had to say What is KamaCarrze beads all about? Kamacarrze Beads is all about making a large variety of Hama bead anime, TV and video game designs that I find interesting/cool and that I think other people will like too. What gave you the idea and inspiration to set up KamaCarrze beads? I didn't really have any plan at first for setting up Kamacarrze Beads, I just woke up one Sunday morning and thought "I feel like trying out Hama beads". At the time I had no idea it was possible to create as many awesome anime style things as I have but I'm happy I had that initial thought to try it as it has turned out quite well for me so far. What is your favourite piece you've made? It's hard to choose one design that I like the most but I have a couple that I've made in the past that I wanted to keep for myself. One of

Aladdin Vinylmation + Chaser

Image
When I was in Barcelona I discovered that the Disney Store had four Aladdin Vinylmation boxes in stock! They'd all been opened though (the boxes, not the foils) so I was a little sceptical about buying them, but since I had no other way of getting any (the UK Disney Store went out of stock pretty quickly!) I got them anyway. And I was lucky enough to pull the chaser on my second box! So to whoever was opening the boxes to potentially feel the packets, you did terribly! Here's my video showing a better view of the figures. Follow this blog on BlogLovin' Like us on Facebook
