Japan - Day 15 - Sunshine City Aquarium

We had an early start this morning, as sadly, we had to check out of our hotel this morning. We had pretty much finished packing the night before and just had a few things left to squeeze in our cases this morning.

We checked out right on check out time and forced our cases into the luggage storage at the reception side. The storage was pretty much empty on the room side but as there is a cafe on that floor that is open to everyone I'd rather have left our cases in the manned guest-only reception building!

We headed for lunch at Burger King and had around a 10min wait before they were due to start serving non-breakfast items so we got a seat nice and early to plan our day in before we ate. Today was a public holiday - respect for the elders day so opening times for places were slightly different and we were worried that the Aquarium would be closed, but thankfully it wasn't.

After lunch we headed to the Taito Arcade to try out that candy prize again, we gathered quite a crowd, and several thousand yen later, we won!
There had been a small boy watching us the entire time so I gave him a bar of chocolate, he seemed so happy!

We then won a cuddly Rascal plushie before heading over to Sunshine City, where we ended up in another arcade and won a Goku figure.

We then headed to Sunshine Aquarium, getting lost on the way to find it first, and there was quite a queue to get to the lift to the ticket level so it took around 20min or so to get into the place.

We spent a couple of hours here, and by the time we made it to the outside parts of the Aquarium (including the roof!) it was raining! but we still had a good time.

By this point it was around 2:30 so we headed back to Sakura Hotel to pick up our cases and take them over to the Hotel Sunny at Nippori Station. This was a pain with three cases, a backpack, camera bag and arcade prize bags in the rain - we couldn't hold an umbrella! I was all for taking two trips but my fiancé disagreed.

We arrived at the hotel soggy, I was mostly worried about my camera bag as I wasn't sure how waterproof my main bag is and the fully weatherproof one was packed into my suitcase. All checked in, I was just excited to have one of the best baths of my trip - the bath here is western length and still as deep as a Japanese tub! and put on my pjs.

While I was in the bath my fiance went to pick up our Keisei Skyliner tickets for our train the next morning and pick us up some dinner, stopping to try out the pachinko place next door on the way and we then finished packaging and went to bed early ready for our super early train the next morning.

Only, I couldn't sleep!
