Sunderland Illuminations 2015
On Sunday the 11th of November my fiancé and I walked down to Roker Park via Seaburn beach to check out this years Sunderland Illuminations and the new things that have come since last year.
The first things we noticed after getting to the beach was that there is a funfair in the old abandoned fairground this year, which is also where all the noise has been coming from that has been keeping him awake!
The funfair was very small with only a few rides and a couple of food places, pretty expensive considering the seafront is filled with cheaper and better food establishments!
As we left the fair we stopped off in Seldons Leisure World for about 10min or so, after noticing they had a big petition up on the door - the revamp of the seafront is threatening to close the arcade and they've asked all of their customers to sign the petition to show the council that we want them to stay.

After that we walked down towards the Ferris wheel and noticed that the fountain light on the roundabout was off, along with half of the strings of fairy lights. We passed the wheel and what we think was some sort of roller disco and onto Roker Park.
This year, there is a one was system in place. It created quite a bit of havoc and many people have vowed not to return next year because of it. There is now only ONE entrance and ONE exit for the park while the illuminations are on. This means locals and visitors parking at the main entrance to the park are forced to walk right round the exterior of the park and down to the seafront to be able to get into the park.
The system also has you walking through the fairy bit backwards, giving you a lovely view of the back of Tinkerbell's head.
Other than the one way system, wheel, funfair, the lights in the pond and more food vans the display is the exact same as last year, only in a different order.
Heres the video of this years lights, I missed off the last couple of things at the end as we picked up food at one of the vans at the end of the fairy section.
