Day 3 - Tokyo DisneySea

We ended up being a little late this morning, and missed rope drop by around 20min or so. Our hotel is closer to DisneySea than it is Disneyland so the walk was pretty quick and somewhat scenic, we walked passed a sports center and some other local community places which just made us wonder why our city can't have anything like that. I think i'll end up posting a rant about our city at some point on here, because our city is horrible, basically your only options of things to do after 5pm is drink. We don't drink, but the reason our city is full of alcoholics and kids drinking on the streets is because there is nothing being offered for entertainment in the entire city. Yeah we have a bowling alley and a swimming pool (Olympic, not leisure) and a single skatepark, but bowling and swimming could cost you a fair bit and families these days don't seem to have a lot of spare money to give their kids for these activities. We have a beach, but the fair was closed years ago and now its just a big empty space on a street of arcades and chip shops.

But anyway, back to my trip report...

On the walk to DisneySea we passed the Disney Resort Line Monorail, we finally took it the next day and managed to get on the Stitch themed liner which is only running for a limited amount of time to fit in with the new Stitch Encounter attraction.

The first thing I did once we entered the park was buy my Gelatoni cat, my fiancé thinks I should have waited and got him as we left (which, in a way would have been a bit better since after carrying Gelatoni around all day his fur got a bit clumpy after my suncream got on him) but it means I wouldn't have been able to do my #GelatoniAdventures photographs. I took photographs of Gelatoni on all of the Duffy Photo Spot chairs dotted around the park and i'm pretty happy with a few of the photographs I got, although I did take all of them on my iPhone camera! but the chair hunt was good in other ways to, its designed so you get something good in the background, so I took some photographs there without Gelatoni too and without following the chair trail I might have missed some of these lovely views.

After picking up Gelatoni, we ran to try and hopefully get fastpasses for Toy Story Mania, or at least the queue would only be 90min or so, but nope! Fastpasses were all gone before 9am and the standby time? THREE hours! This is the one ride I really don't understand, we first went on this ride in California, in the middle of August, and the wait time never went any higher than 30-45min or so, but in Florida the year after the queue was always near enough two hours in September! And now, in Tokyo its even managed to surpass that! Its basically the same ride as Buzz Lightyear, but with mini games instead of just being one long shooter ride, i'm not sure why its so popular in Florida and Japan compared to California, although, California does have Radiator Springs Racers which is a must do if you ever get the chance to visit Disney in California.

We ate lunch at Cape Cod Cook-Off and waited in the long and slow queue for the dinner show - My Friend Duffy! You can see the video of that at the bottom of this post.

At some point during the day we went back to the hotel for a rest as my fiancé's feet aren't used to walking over 20,000 steps a day, especially not in the brand new shoes he bought the day before we left! and he didn't bring any old ones with him either! so he went to rest his feet and checked to see if there was anything that would help them in the Konbini a few streets away from the hotel. He couldn't really get anything from the Konbini so just picked up some energy drink and a Shin Chan book for me. We then headed back to the parks, it was getting dark so it was a little cooler than the 47ºC heat we'd been dealing with during the day.

We had Fastpasses for Indiana Jones that we'd picked up earlier in the day, so we headed straight over to the ride. I liked it but in the end I didn't manage to get on it again before the end of the trip. We bought the photograph but my fiancé pointed out that every time we go on the ride where the photograph is taken on a drop you can never see my face! I sort of just squish up like a turtle, and it probably doesn't help that i'm so short and get hidden behind the people in front at the best of times anyway.

We ate dinner at Cape Cod Cook-Off again, but this time the show was finished so we got served a lot quicker. My fiancé got the special set with a souvenir bag, he also got the desserts which came with souvenir plates and cups, they're all Duffy themed and exclusive to DisneySea.

Here are the videos of the shows I watched at DisneySea
