Day 2 - Hotel switch and Tokyo Disneyland

Our first full day started by a 4am wake up!

We headed over to the JR station and caught a couple of trains over to Maihama!

The connection at Shin Kiba was absolutely packed, i've not been on a train that crowded since I used to take the 8:02 to college, thankfully though, 90% of the people on the train were getting off at Maihama!

First stop was the luggage lockers, as we were changing hotel later in the day, then it was straight off to Tokyo Disneyland!

The park was busier than i've ever seen a Disney park before! And i've visited Paris and California in August, and Disney World the first two weeks of September!

Our first view of the castle as we entered the park.

Our first stop was Tomorrowland where we picked up some drinks and sat with our maps while we decided what to do first, my fiancé then ran off to try and get us priority seating for Once Upon A Time before grabbing us some Pooh's Honey Hunt fastpasses (although we ended up not going on the ride the entire time we were at Disney!, we missed our FP times because we'd not get a good view of the Electrical Parade if we'd went on the ride, and this parade is one of my favourites.)

Then we decided to go on our usual favourite rides Buzz Lightyear, Pirates of the Caribbean, Its A Small World, I can't remember if we went on any more, there were relatively short queues for some of the rides but we focused more on seeing what these parks had to offer rather than riding more rides we'd done so many times before in other Parks. Although I do regret not managing to get on Pooh's honey hunt, despite neither of us liking Winnie the Pooh!

As usual, I scored the highest on Buzz Lightyear! My fiancé has only beat me maybe five times out of the thirty or so times we've been on this ride. I didn't take a photograph of his score, because it really was a lot lower than usual, he thinks the gun wasn't working properly (it happens).

I'd done a lot of research before my trip and visited the Disboards Japan page, i'm so glad I found that site back when I was in College, I used to love spending all my time on the Paris boards! Anyway, from all my researching I found a list of new Stitch merchandise they were releasing in July and August to fit in with the new Stitch encounter ride opening and as soon as I saw it, I knew I needed this popcorn bucket! I've got a little collection of popcorn buckets from Disneyland Paris as it is, but none of them are quite as nice as this Stitch one, I was originally going to get the Pizza Planet Alien bucket but with new release I knew I had to change my mind as it fits in so well with all of my other Stitch pieces I have around my room.

Then it was time for lunch, we decided to grab an early lunch since we'd been up since 4am and we wanted to miss out the huge lunch rush queues. We ate at Tomorrowland Terrace in Tomorrowland, I had the fries and chicken nuggets, the nuggets were in cute Mickey Mouse head shapes! My fiancé had a burger and fries and the burger (pictured below) was also shaped like Mickey Mouse! This is the fourth Disney Park i've been to but the first time i've seen the food so well themed.

For years the one character i've wanted to find, but couldn't has been Max Goof! and on my first day at Tokyo Disneyland, he was the first character I saw! I didn't get my photograph taken because the humidity of Tokyo made my hair into a huge birds nest or something, so I avoided having my photograph taken throughout the trip.

After we'd bumped into Max Goof we headed back towards the entrance of the park, visiting some shops on our way, before heading back to the station so we could pick up our bags and check into our second hotel. We had a look in Bon Voyage on our way to the Station and the Disney Store in Ikspiari before walking down to the hotel, we later visited the supermarket in Ikspiari where we picked up drinks and snacks for our stay as we wouldn't have a lot of time for breakfast in the hotel, I picked up some Funyuns (my absolutely favourite food from our WDW trip last year) and some Salt and Vinegar Pringles, in the end I didn't even eat of them and had to leave them behind when we went back home! Too greedy. We had a little rest in our new hotel and unpacked our backpack so nothing would get creased before heading back to the parks.

Despite being really tired and not feeling too great on our first day (long haul travel mixed with a 30ºC temperature increase between destinations really takes it out of you) we stayed in the parks to watch the Tokyo Disneyland Electrical Parade Dream Lights, its the main thing i'd been looking forward to from the Tokyo Disney Resort, you can see the video I took of the parade below, as well as the video of Once Upon A Time which we watched before heading back to our hotel ready for a day at DisneySea the next day.

These are the two shows/parades I watched on our first day.

First it was the Tokyo Disneyland Electrical Parade Dream Lights (tied favourite with Fantillusion from Disneyland Paris).

And then we moved over and watched Once Upon A Time in front of the castle. We later bought a mobile phone gadget sort of thing from one of the shops in Tomorrowland which you use to project a recording of the show from the parks official YouTube channel onto a moulded castle screen which gives it enough depth to make it work as a mini version of the show you can take with you and rewatch and remember for years to come.
