Day 9 - Akihabara

We had an early start the morning after we climbed Mt Fuji, it takes a while to get back to Tokyo from Kawaguchiko so we got the earliest and quickest train we could find once we got up. We managed to find a Ltd Express train (quicker and meant we had less transfers) but we didn't manage to get a seat until pretty much the end of our journey as we hadn't reserved seats for this train. We were not sure if we were going to stay the night after the climb or head straight back to Tokyo, so we hadn't prebooked or planned a way back to Tokyo until we got back to the hotel after our climb.

Once we got back to Tokyo we headed over to our hotel in Ikebukuro to sort out our stuff before heading out. We dropped off our hiking equipment with the front desk who called Yamato Transport to come and collect it.

With everything at our hotel sorted, we headed out for food and then over to Akihabara, I wish we had more time to spend here later in the trip.

The streets are lined with UFO arcades and anime merchandise. There was even an octopus ball (takoyaki) store completely themed for the new Naruto movie, Boruto.

Needless to say, we spent the entire afternoon here shopping and playing the UFO machines at every arcade we came across. They even has a Disney Tsum Tsum machine! You put in 500¥ and got one game play and a tsum tsum figure strap toy too! I had two goes as my first figure was Alice and I wanted something better, then out popped Chip!

Sorry this is a quick and short post, I had to rush and condense it down a little as - at the time of writing this - my internet has been down for almost 24 hours, thanks to the thunderstorm. Its just a little bit ironic how sky based weather can take down the internet provided by a company named SKY!

There is a technician coming out in a couple of days (before this post even goes live I think) and i'm really hoping they can fix it there and then. Four days without internet is quite enough. I know you'll often find me Tweeting, wishing I would and could spend less time online, and relive life as a teenager when I wasn't stuck to the screen, but now that its actually a reality, life just seems so dull.
