New York - Day 6/7 - The Return Home

It was our last day in New York, I had a lazy start and got up at 8am and had breakfast before finishing packing our cases. The hotel had told us if we went down in the morning we could ask about late check out, so at 8:30 my Mam went down and asked, they gave us an extra 45min for free. We only wanted the additional time incase we bought anything extra, and so we could get changed closer to our flight time as we didn't really want to be wearing flight socks during the day, or winter coats and jumpers on the flight.

We headed out to Times Square around 10am, and one final last look in The Disney Store I picked up a Tsum Tsum tray and bowl which I was going to have to try and squash into my case.

We paid another visit to the Christmas in New York shop where my Mam got herself a freestanding fat Gingerbread man decoration, she'd tried to get me to get that one when I picked out mine.

We then spent all of our change in CVS on sweets - they have self service tills so its not like we were bothering anyone with handfulls of coins this way. And then we headed back to the hotel to finish packing and check out before heading out for food.

After grabbing lunch at Burger King we headed back to the hotel and picked up our cases and waited for our Shuttle from Super Shuttle to arrive (14min late - so nowhere near as bad as when we used them in California!) and we were at the airport with a ridiculously long wait before our flight.

While waiting I noticed on the departures board that our original flight (Hays Travel had changed our flight, and didn't tell us, they really are a top notch Travel company...) hadn't actually been cancelled or anything, and it was still departing at the same time. I've since contacted Hays Travel about this but have gotten nowhere. They've done this to me on every single holiday i've booked with them, but this is the first time i've seen our original flight on the board (our flight usually changes by more than an hour) and if its because the original flight cost more than the one they put us on to then a huge complaint will be going in, as its just not acceptable.

I slept most of the flight from New York to London, and once we got to Heathrow, we had to go through security again, meaning I had to throw away the drinks i'd bought for my first flight (Heathrow is a bit impractical for connecting) and once through security, I found a Boots, picked up a new drink and something to eat before heading to our gate for our flight back to Newcastle.

I, again, slept on the flight.
I've been really tired all the time recently.

My Dad was there to pick us up, and we started unpacking once we got home.
I took a nap with my cat since we'd missed each other so much.

The long haul flight with British Airways was probably the worst equipped long haul flight i've ever been on, no plug sockets, no USB charging stations, the controls were on top of the arm rests so I was scared i'd call cabin crew in my sleep and the seats reclined so much that the person in front of me was practically on me - they weren't asked to put their seat back up during meal times either.
