Spending Ban! & Bank Fraud
On Monday I woke up still feeling pretty poorly (i'm sick right now) and thought, well, i'm not at work so i'll check the time and have another 30min.
But when I checked my phone, panic struck! A text from my bank's fraud department.
My details had been stolen and used for a Vodafone top-up in Greece and a hotel/restaurant in America.
Thats just great, right?
So after three phone calls, and half of my morning gone, i've since been left with no bank card for a few days. I can't even buy anything online and theres some things I actually need urgently!
Thankfully, while we've been out my fiancé has basically paid for everything (he usually does anyway for the most part, he's great ^_^)
So now I have a few days wait for my new bank card.
SPENDING BAN
Well, the thing above about having no bank card right now is definitely helping me not spend!
Right, so lets just get this out of the way now, i've spent too much money again. I'm three days away from payday and only have just over 1 weeks wage left. Ok, so almost £400 of what i've spent is for a pretty good reason - it'll be published on here soon so you'll just have to wait ;) and if I didn't spend that then i'd be in a much better place.
So that, having no bank card and my fiancé imposing a spending ban on us next year because apparently i'm having too many holidays this year (plus our money really needs to go on giving the house a overhaul. It needs plastering, a new loft hatch, some flooring in the loft would be nice too and other miscellaneous things) i've decided to start my spending ban back up a little earlier, although there will be exclusions.
Spending ban exclusions:
Christmas
Birthdays
Anniversary
Holidays
Odd treat
Black Friday
So basically, i've started avoiding my friend's store - Animez - as i'm pretty sure i'd buy something I didn't need, and then probably put it on eBay before Christmas, thats the sort of thing I do. I can't help myself if I see something I sort of want.
I've not preordered the new Bob's Burgers POP! figures, or the two new Stitch Funkos I need. Although i'm pretty sure these will be preordered before the release dates, i'm just hinting at getting them for Christmas for now.
Staying home - i've decided to stay home today, unless the weather gets better anyway. My fiancé is working from home today and I still have the end of my cold, and obviously no bank card to even get the Metro out anyway! So today will be spent sorting out some stuff for Barcelona and New York.
With Winter creeping up i've starting coming up with some indoor dates we can have. Obviously every now and again we'll probably order in food, and we'll still be going out to Newcastle once a week i'd imagine, or maybe even Sunderland or the MetroCentre. My fiancé is starting a new job next month and its mostly work from home (other than that he'll be working in York so i'll be spending the York days at home saving money!)
I'm starting to make the gift lists now so I know how much money i'm going to be spending on main gifts (not stocking fillers or small novelties). I know what i'm getting for my Mam, a couple of stocking fillers for my fiancé, and we always get my Nan a personalised family calendar for her bag of gifts. I'm not sure what else we'll be getting her yet. I think I might spend my evening planning my brother's present, I need to out do the Gamers Survival Kit I made him up a couple of years ago.
