Saving For A Disney Holiday ~ Tips

A Disney trip doesn't need to break the bank, but I do have a few tips for you to build up that spending money!

Savings Tin

Design yourself a Disney themed savings tin (tutorial here), its something all the family can get in on if you have small children - they can decorate with Disney stickers or glitter.

I personally put all of my change in this tin when ever I come home, except for the occasional £1 coin as I use those for my lunch at work. At last check I had just over £30 - approx. 41€ or $45

Offers

Always check the offers on the Disneyland Paris website if you're looking to book up, the offers will also tell you when that one ends (a new one, or a Flash sale usually starts around a week after an offer ends).

Other country websites

You can book through the websites for other countries if they have a better offer, all of your tickets and hotel info will come via email, just use Google Chrome to translate the website and email for you. Or you can always call up and tell them you want to book via the ex: French website to get their current offer and they will patch you through to someone who speaks English and can book you on that offer. When I booked up the French site was slightly cheaper than the English website but my cashback pretty much cancelled it out as there was a special cashback rate on for a few days when I booked up.

You can visit other country websites by clicking 'U.K. English' at the top of the DLP website and selecting another country.

Topcashback

If you haven't already, I recommend you join Topcashback.

I've had Topcashback since I was a student and i've claimed back just over £600 in cashback savings.

Basically, you join the website, and then whenever you go to buy something online, go to that website first. Type in the website you're going to buy from, and if they offer cashback, click through to get cashback and it will redirect you to the website. Just shop as normal and Topcashback will track it and then tell you how much you're going to get.

At first your cashback will say it is pending (orange circle) but it will then move on to approved, then a few weeks later (see the amount of weeks listed on the right, thats the estimated amount of weeks) it will turn to a green circle which means its payable and you can have it sent over to your bank account or have it changed into vouchers.

You can join Topcashback here.

eBay

Sell! Sell! Sell!

This is the quickest, best and easiest way to get some extra money for your holidays. At the time of writing I currently have 61 things listed for sale (wait it out for those 100 free listings weekends rather than paying to list).

Go through your house and find anything you don't want or need anymore and put it somewhere where you know you'll be able to find it - we have an 'eBay cupboard'. Then when you're ready and have some time, take photographs and list your items on eBay (its very straight forward, I also recommend having a pair of digital scales and visiting the Royal Mail website so you can figure out how much postage to charge).

I recommend using the eBay app and listing via your smart phone as it is quicker than using the website, you can take all of your photographs in advance and list them later, or you can draft your listings ready and waiting for a free listing weekend.

For posting you can buy bubble envelopes in large, medium or small sizes in Poundland. In a pack you can get 4 large, 6 medium or 8 small bubble envelopes, and the quality of the envelopes is much better than other envelopes i've had from other budget stores. Poundland also sell bubblewrap and brown paper if you're planning on selling anything breakable or boxed.

I recently sold a 3D camera we bought during Amazon's Black Friday deals last year, we used it once and earlier this month it sold for £70 more than we paid for it! I'm not saying buy something to sell it specifically, but if you have something you only used once or don't want anymore, its definitely worth putting up on eBay.

Menus

You can view all of the menus from the resort over at DLPGuide. This can help you plan your budget and decide where you want to eat and if you need to book any reservations in advance.
