London Trip 2016 - Day One

Travel

We were up at 4:30am to get sorted before our 6:45am train from Sunderland to London.
We'd booked to travel first class this time round, we boarded, sat in our assigned seats, and our tickets were checked and all fine - only after posting a photograph to Instagram questioning why first class on the Grand Central trains didn't have a plug socket, I was tweeted by Grand Central and informed I was in the wrong coach! As they'd had to switch trains this morning and F was now first class rather than E! It was obviously very.. nice.. of the ticket inspectors and other crew members to inform their customers of the change.. oh wait, they didn't!
By this point we had little over an hour left of our 4 hour journey so we stayed where we were rather than drag our luggage through and disrupt other passengers.

Leicester Square

After dropping off our luggage we headed over to Leicester Square for some lunch and our first trips to M&Ms World and the Nickelodeon Store - this one was a first for us as it wasn't open when we last visited London! I can't wait until the new Shake Shack (previously KFC) and Lego Stores are open there too!

Hotel

We headed back to our hotel for 2pm so we could officially check in and find our room.

We stayed at the Royal National Hotel in Russell Square as always.
After I posted a hotel review here during my last stay, I was contacted on Google+ and told to get in contact with them before my next stay so they could give me a better view as I always seem to get wall/roof views! And they definitely supplied a good view this time! We stayed on the 7th floor.

Oxford Street

Selfridges Christmas Floor

We headed over to Oxford Street just because we'd read a couple of weeks ago that Selfridges had opened their Christmas floor, and the trees were just stunning! But as far as what was available, it was a huge let down! The decorations weren't anything special and we couldn't find a single one either of us liked. Oh well, hopefully it won't be long before Fenwick Newcastle open theirs! After all, Debenhams are already starting to stock gifts!

Disney Store

Ok, so I went here for Vinylmation - and I bought one, just one, a Civil War box - I pulled Black Panther from it. I recently found out yesterday that my local store has started stocking them too! Which, i'm so happy about! Its just a let down that they're phasing out vinylmation.

The only other stuff we looked at here were the London themed merchandise - we picked up coastered boxed cups for my Nan and Uncle, and of course, the Christmas section!

How could we say no to this Stitch?!
We couldn't!
I got this one, and the Stitch in the containment pod which isn't even remotely Christmasy so it'll live on display all year round!
There was a lovely Minnie & Snowman decoration, but there wasn't a matching Mickey so we had to pass.

Lush

We popped into Lush because I wanted to get my hands on a couple of the sacred lotus bathbombs - but nope, out of stock! so we wandered back out and hunted for a McDonalds for something nice and icy.

Uniqlo

Whilst wandering around, looking for a McDonalds that had McFlurrys and frozen lemonade available (it was 31ºC!) we popped into a Uniqlo and I stumbled across this lovely Chip & Dale tshirt - but they only had XL left! The Japanese website still has my size - and theres a Uniqlo in the train station by our hotel in Ikebukuro so fingers crossed I can pick one of these up next week!

Topshop

I saw a lovely Mickey Mouse top on a banner advertisement outside, so we headed in!
We couldn't find it, but I did leave with a lovely Mickey jumper! It's just a shame it was 31ºC!

Carnaby Street

Drop Dead

We took a little trip up to Carnaby Street on our way back to the hotel, just to visit Drop Dead.
My little brother had his eye on a couple of tshirts from there, but sadly, neither of them were available in his size! So we picked him up a travel mug style branded cup - it's a little impractical though, its got a straw and a regular opening on opposite sides and neither of the holes are closable.
