Rome - Day Four - Vatican Museums, Sistine Chapel & Fatamorgana Gelato

We got up around 7am, we had time for a pretty slow morning and had planned to have an early lunch ready for our 1pm reservation at the Vatican Museums.

The day went pretty smoothly, except at 11:30 when I realised, whilst we were already a short walk from the Vatican that we didn't have our passports with us!!
So a mad rush - well, my fiancé had a mad rush - back to the hotel while I waited in the Metro station (by this point my feet were wrecked and I really couldn't walk at regular speed, never mind rushing!) he was soon back with the passports, which they never even asked for!

The website had specifically stated no shorts, no hat, no digital video or photo equipment, so after melting all morning in long pants and not bringing my camera along you can see why i'd be a bit annoyed by the view below.

And further along at the Sistine Chapel they were letting people in with shorts, vests and hats too!

We skipped some of the museum, it was so hot and crowded that along with my feet hurting I just didn't have the energy to look around the rest of the pieces. It did mean missing the Egyptology exhibit which would have been the only bit I was really interested in, but I did see a few Dali pieces.

After we looked around we headed into the food court to get a drink because it was so hot - around 34ºC by this point. Before getting the train back to the hotel so we could get back into our shorts!

We headed out again in the evening, stopping by Fatamorgana, the place my fiancé had discovered the night before and went to without me! The vanilla gelato was amazing. Tasted like mini milk.

Then it was time to head back and start packing, we had to be up early for our transfer back to the airport.

- oh, a Jet2 complaint here. -
Our paperwork said our reception would know of our transfer time 24 hours before the flight, so after asking in the morning, asking when we went back to get changed and then asking again when we headed back to start packing they still didn't know the time!
We ended up having to phone the UK, again (prev. hotel complaints) to find out our transfer time, and the guy on the phone didn't know either! A short while later he called us back and told us it'd be 9:15am.

I started packing while my fiancé went to pick us up some food, we were all packed and fed by a good time, ready just to take showers and head to bed, but...

NO HOT WATER

So, we headed down to reception, again, to find angry Americans from our floor also complaining about the water. We were told 15min.
30min later, still no hot water.
60min after that, still no hot water.

I ended up having to take a cold shower and i'm still so angry about it.
The room was so cold as it was, even turning the aircon off didn't make much difference.

Needless to say, complaints have been made.
