Prague - Day 2 - Prague Zoo

Our first full day, and the best weather we were forecast for the entire trip so we made the most of it with a trip to the zoo!

We started our day by contacting our hotel's front desk as the information book in the room says they sell public transport tickets - but when we went to buy them they told us they didn't sell them! A bit confusing, but they sent us to the nearest Metro station, which was Karlovo Namesti, which we found didn't have a ticket office! so off we went again, and walked over to I.P. Pavlova, which thankfully did have a manned ticket office! After about 10min of queuing we finally had our 72 hour public transport passes! They were around 310kc each.

Finally, we were on our way.

We took the metro to Nádraží Holešovice, and then caught the bus to Zoologická Zahrada, its the last stop on the bus.

The tickets for the zoo were 200kc each, but you can't prebook them online so you do need to queue up and buy your ticket on the day. There wasn't much of a queue, and there is a counter in the zoo which shows you how many people have visited that day - when we left it was at 1994, so it's not the busiest zoo around, not in March anyway.

We started at the red panda, who after a few minutes, went inside of his enclosure and didn't seem to come back out for the rest of the day! We then followed the paths and the random map signposts around the zoo (we didn't get a paper map, i'm not sure if they are available as we didn't see anyone with them at all! but there are plenty of maps dotted around the zoo) and saw most of the animals I think, a lot of them weren't out due to the cold weather so we did miss quite a few of our favourites.

Here's the video we took during our visit!

We left the zoo at around 5pm and headed back over to Nádraží Holešovice before catching the metro to Mustek. The weather forecast had warmed up and i'd only brought thermal socks with me so figured I should pick up a pack of normal socks.

We then headed back to the hotel to drop off our shopping and headed back out to get something for dinner. On our way back I checked the weather forecast again and we were forecast snow! I just couldn't win with the forecasts we were getting!
