Hidden Mickey Disney Cake

It's time for another baking day post!

On Sunday my fiancé and I decided to bake a cake with the new cake tins we bought earlier in the week. It took three packets of cake mix and half a jar of Nutella to make this!

Step 1 - Chocolate Cake!

Mix together your chocolate cake mix and spread it evenly in a greased rectangular baking/roasting tin. Put it in the oven for around 20min at 170ºC.

Step 2 -
Allow it to cool before cutting out your Mickey head shapes - we used a cookie cutter for this!

Step 3 -
Mix your sponge mix (we needed two, but start with one).

And put enough into your loaf tin to cover the bottom.

Add your Mickey heads in a row in the centre.

Now fill your loaf tin with sponge mix!

Step 4 - Bake!

Ours took around 1 hour and it came out pretty iffy - I don't know if it was the new loaf tin or the fact the oven is around 40 years old but it came out cooked the centre, raw on the sides and bottom and rock solid on the top! We've baked one of these before in a metal loaf tin and it came out fine so I guess it's just trial and error with the new tin.

Step 5 - Decorate!

We used melted Nutella to cover the cake and then added Mickey shaped Smarties to the top.
You can obviously see that the cake sank in on one side! Thats the side which just wouldn't cook, no matter how long we left the cake in it just wouldn't change, and with the amount of times we kept checking it it eventually sank in.

Step 6 - Slice and enjoy!
