Japan - Day 10 - Nakano & Odaiba

Image
We got quite a late start today, we were planning on having a pretty slow day today anyway, so we headed off for an early lunch around 10:30am and hunted down a Burger King (what? Ya'll know its my favourite place to eat!) and we actually managed to order a plain burger here! - in Japan, basically if its not on the menu, you're not getting it, but thanks to BK having the same packaging system everywhere in the world, a quick photo of a wrapper from the UK got me the best meal I had on this trip! We also did this in Barcelona too, it makes it so much easier if you want a special order but maybe the staff don't understand because of the language barrier. After lunch we caught the train to Nakano to finally visit Nakano Broadway - another one we missed last year. Although if i'm honest, we spent more time in arcades here than we actually did looking around the shops! We may have gone a little overboard in Disney so we knew we'd be running low on space, despi...

Japan - Day 9 - Sanrio Puroland & Earthquake

Image
Another sort of slow start this morning, with the weather forecast predicting rain last night we decided to set our alarms for 8am and head out to Sanrio Puroland for the day as it's an indoor theme park and we didn't get a chance to visit it last year, plus we thought it might have a bit more to do in it than J-World and Namja Town which we visited last August, and we were right! We headed out for an early lunch in the rain around 10am, ok, so we're running late already as Sanrio Puroland opens then and its quite far away! but we just didn't really feel like rushing around on a day like this. We then caught the train and were soon arriving at Sanrio Puroland! Even the train station was Hello Kitty themed! After a very short queue to buy tickets we got in the park just in time for the Miracle Gift Parade! obviously we didn't have the best view as probably 90% of people in Sario Puroland were already sat down waiting for the parade - and this inclu...

Japan - Day 8 - Kamakura; The Great Daibutsu & Hase-dera Temple

Image
Still pretty exhausted from our days at Disney we ended up getting a later start today at around 7:30-8 but as we had decided the night before to finalise our plans in the morning due to the constantly changing weather forecast so we couldn't get up too late, really. The forecast for Tokyo was to be on and off showers, not bad really, but the weather forecast for Kamakura was completely clear all day and it wouldn't be again before our trip ended, so we decided to go and visit the Great Daibutsu as we didn't manage to squeeze it into our trip last August. First things first, we had to have breakfast and get some ironing done as it was too late to get any done last night. We were ready and out before 10:30 ready to catch our first train to Shinjuku! Only to get to the station and realise that my fiancé had taken our PASMO cards out of his wallet and let them in the room! 6minutes before our train was due! We rushed back to the hotel but by the time we got back to...

Japan - Day 7 - Harajuku!

Image
After a slow start this morning we checked out of our hotel dot on checkout time at 11am - we didn't really plan on heading back to Tokyo that early anyway as we didn't want to be on a busy train with everything we (Ok, I) bought during our few wonderful days at Tokyo Disney Resort. There was really bad weather this morning - very rainy, and yes, we'd packed our umbrellas at the bottom of our bag last night! So we just had to walk through it to the train station, thankfully, it's not far and it meant I could have a sneaky little dive in the Disney Store at Ikspiari on the way, its probably my favourite non-park Disney Store. They had so many cute things! Especially the iPhone 6 covers with Max Goof on them, but, i'd already preordered my iPhone 7 by this point so, sadly, no cute phone cover for me. Our train journey was pretty uneventful, and before long we were back in Ikebukuro dropping off our bags at the Sakura Hotel and heading out for lunch in S...

Japan - Day 6 - Tokyo Disneyland

Image
There's no point even trying to word it well, we didn't make it to our happy 15 time today either! We got to Disneyland just after opening time, kind of devastated as the original plan had been to go to DisneySea for Happy 15 so we could go on Toy Story Mania - for some reason that ride has ridiculous queues in all of the parks except from California! Once we got into the park we headed towards Tomorrowland, it's where we spend most of our time! and after a quick trip to Treasure Comet, we had another new pair of matching tshirts! We ended up going for some food too by the looks of my notes! I've got to admit though, a packet of crisps for breakfast two-three hours beforehand was never going to be a good choice though really, was it? I didn't write down where we ate, but it was probably Tomorrowland Terrace! We even saw a cat wandering around the outdoor seating when we went for lunch today, the Tokyo parks are full of cats! We then headed...

Japan - Day 5 - DisneySea

Image
Ok, you may have seen on my previous posts that i've not been very well recently, but i'm finally back, im still not back to 100% but I thought I would try to get back on top of these posts while i'm restrengthening my eyes and getting them to work together again now that the double vision is subsiding. So.. day five... What should have started as a really easy day, we should have been on time, but my fiance refused to iron his clothes before we packed our Disney bag and his tshirts were all a total state this morning! He left to head to reception to ask about borrowing an ironing board, but he didn't make it that far as there was a member of staff out hanging newspapers on room doors at this point (great service, a newspaper in your own language without even asking!) so he asked him and he said to go back to our room and he'd have someone up with an ironing board soon - this took about 10 minutes so did ruin our chances of getting our happy 15 minutes in...
