A Trip To York

I had booked a weekend off work and we were originally planning a little trip to London for Christmas shopping and Hyper Japan but after booking Disneyland Paris for the Monday we thought we'd better stick to day trips over the weekend!

We took the 8:30am train to York from Sunderland, thankfully we'd booked First Class, the entire train was rammed with people standing!

It's our first trip to York together, i'm not even sure i'd ever been before but my fiancé used to work here a couple of days a week while he had a remote development job for a company based here.

We took a little walk for 30min or so after getting off the train to stretch our legs and ended up in McDonald's for lunch. We shared a chocolate orange McFlurry before heading out into the cold - and wow! this was so different to the one I got from the Roker branch on Wednesday, the Roker store didn't mix in the chocolate orange sauce!

We saw Santa!

First hot chocolate of the day, look at that steam!

And my fiancé picked up some coconut macaroons. I hate coconut but the bag it came in was cute so it sort of makes up for it!

Up until the mid afternoon, York was full of fog! So I ended up carrying around my DSLR all day and not taking a single photo! Eventually the fog lifted as the sun was starting to set, we took in the beautiful sights and discussed coming back in warmer weather for some good photographs.

After spending a few hours shopping in the usual places - Disney Store, Paperchase, Lush, Christmas shops and Candy Hero we headed back to McDonalds for a warm up - another hot chocolate!

Mine was absolutely disgusting, had I not taken the lid of and seen the colour of the, i'll just call it liquid, i'd have been 100% sure it was just water. Thats all it tasted like, hot water! My fiancé's had way more flavour.

We headed out to catch our 6:09pm train and have another stop off at Candy Hero for the bulk of our candy shopping. The trees looked so much better in the dark!

Also, Candy Hero have Funyuns.
Yes, Funyuns!
I only bought six packets.

Then finally back home and waiting up to check in online for my flight, I quickly wrote up this blog post (sorry its not the best!) and settled down with the Lush Error 404 bath bomb while trying to stay awake after very little sleep on Friday night!
