Japan Plan Update

Sakura Hotel

We've managed to pay for this in advance, we contacted them before the EU Ref. but sadly they didn't get back to us until after the vote to leave had been announced, meaning the price went up around £100. They charged us in US$ rather than JPY¥ though so the rate wasn't as bad as it could have been.

Donald Room

With the deposit paid when we booked, and the Yen I got for my birthday and Christmas, we only have around half of this left to pay when we arrive at the hotel, so hopefully the rate will be better by then. I wish hotels in Japan would just charge you on booking!!

Tokyo Disneyland Tickets

Are finally available!
But as we're staying onsite if we wait and buy our tickets when we get to the hotel, we'll be able to pay a little bit extra and park hop on all three days!

Hotel Sunny

Is booked and our original hotel is cancelled!
Hotel Sunny is the closest you can get to Nippori Station, so it's ideal for getting the train to the airport in the morning - plus, last year, it rained! so i'd rather run next door than 5min down the street in the rain!. It's also opposite a McDonalds which sells Shaka Shaka Chicken.

Extra Suitcase

We've prebooked and paid for this now - had a couple of difficulties paying for it via Flying Blue, it kept saying you could only add it at the airport, but thankfully the Air France Facebook team sorted this out for us.

Packing List

I've dug out last year's packing list and wrote up a little shopping list so I can start picking things up ready to pack instead of running around at the last minute. I'm mainly picking up my wash bag stuff for now, but i've got food/snacks/breakfast on the list too because I prefer to eat my breakfast in bed while i'm away rather than getting dressed, and waiting for the taste of toothpaste to fade before I can go downstairs and get breakfast in the hotel. The toast at the Sakura Hotel was so delicious last year though.

Exchange Rate / Brexit

THIS is a nightmare.
The Wednesday before the EU Ref, it cost just over £13 for ¥2000, I suppose all we can do now is watch and prey it will go back up - at the time of writing this its currently at £15.25 for 2000¥ (update - its still unstable, going up and down daily, but in the £14 range now rather than £15 thankfully).

Clothes

I'm currently breaking in my 'new' Vans, that i've had for two or three years now, they just refuse to be comfortable, but i'll be taking my old, super cosy pair that have gone brown along with me.
I'm still trying to figure out what to wear on the plane, I usually wear the same thing for every flight, but the jeans I wear on the flight sometimes hurt my knees after a while so i'm considering joggers - but apparently thats a big no-no for flights! (just let me nap and be cosy..)
It's currently getting up to 32ºC in Tokyo, so i'll be watching the weather app while I decide what to buy and take with me, I would think it would be around the same as last year, but some websites have suggested it's a little cooler in September. I need some lighter shorts, denim shorts weren't working in August when, at one point, it got up to 47ºC!

Sanrio Puroland

We're still not 100% if we'll be visiting, but i've found the discount ticket coupon on the website ready for buying tickets if we go.

Organiser

I got a new organiser file, I just need to start printing out all the documents and organising it all.
I really wish I hadn't booked my flights via Hays Travel because they're not going to give me my documents until the week before we fly.
