Baking Day - Mickey Mouse Shaped Cupcakes

I finally got around to using the cupcake mould that we picked up in Disneyland Paris last month so here is what I managed to do with it!

First off, the packaging it comes in states you shouldn't grease the tray with butter or oil, so I tried with water first, like you do with cake pop moulds, and it was a huge failure!

So with the rest of the cake mix, I first greased the tray with Wilton Cake Release - its oil based - but it worked well, the mould is a little awkward so the ears were a little difficult to get out properly, but the cake release definitely helped!

The moulds are really deep so I didn't get to decorate these the way i'd originally planned - maybe next time, when I can use a full cake mix and maybe cut down the cakes into half.

Keep checking back to see the properly decorated Mickey cakes once I get round to it!
I might just use cookie cutters and cut out heads like I did with the hidden Mickey cake, it might be easier!
