Astronaut Neapolitan Icecream Review

Back when we were in Florida we picked up a pack of freeze dried icecream and we finally tried it a couple of weeks ago. Personally, I didn't like it, so i've left the review writing up to my fiancé.

We bought this on a trip to the Kennedy Space Center a while ago and we finally decided to eat it today, so after checking the date we opened it and decided to try it one section at a time.

I don't know what I as expecting but this stuff is… different. I don't think I would ever eat this again by choice but I would definitely recommend everybody tries it once just to know what I am talking about.

So first I'm going to talk about the texture. It's dry / hard and has the texture of Edinburgh Rock when you first bite into it. After that though the comparison to Edinburgh Rock ends because it quickly dissolves into a gloopy, sticky mess which dries your mouth out and makes swallowing a little difficult but not impossible.

Flavour-wise, it had three sections as it was a Neapolitan: Strawberry, Vanilla, and Chocolate. While you could tell what flavour was what, they didn't really taste anything like the things they were representing and I think it may have been just recognising by association more than anything.

It was bareable, I'll say that much. I had to eat it all because it was unusual, the three flavours are individually different and I do feel better knowing that I've eaten it. Also, if I was living in space, getting this would be great stimulation for my taste buds.
