Baking: Auntie Annes Pretzels

Last year I picked up a Auntie Anne's Pretzels kit for my Mam as she loved their pretzels when we were in New York and we finally got around to making it a few weeks ago.

Here is the kit and its contents.

Yeast, dough mix, salt, cinnamon sugar and baking soda.

Step One -
Dissolve the yeast in 295ml warm water and let it sit for 2min.

Step Two -
Add the dough mix to the yeast and mix until dough forms.

Step Three -
Knead on a floured surface for 5-7min

Step Four -
Place the dough into a greased bowl and cover with lightly greased clingfilm.
Allow to rise for 30min in a warm spot.

Step Five -
PReheat the oven to 218ºC and spray or flour your surface.
Cut strips of dough to 1 1/2" wide by 8" long and roll and stretch them to 36" x 1/2" ropes.

Step Six -
Shape your pretzels!

Step Seven -
Dissolve and stir the baking soda in 946ml of hot water and grease your baking trays.

Step Eight -

Quickly dip into the baking soda mix and put onto your baking tray.
Top with salt and bake!

Bake for 5min then rotate the tray 180º and bake for a further 2-5min until golden brown.

Step Nine -

Enjoy!
