Japan - Day 11 - Ueno Zoo
We had another late start today, well, I keep saying late, I mean we set our alarms for 8am! We got sorted and headed out for lunch around 10:30 then went straight to catch the train to Ueno!
We were due to arrive with plenty of time to see the zoo, but as we approached the park we noticed a street performer, and he was one of those graffiti artists! I'd looked out for them in New York last year but never managed to find one so I knew we had to stick around this time. He didn't start for around 15min or so, he waited for a crowd then did a full set of art - four paintings I think, including an illusion at the end, it was amazing! Once he was done we asked about purchasing a couple of them, he didn't have a price up, only a sign to donate money if you took a photograph or video, so we were pretty pleased when he agreed to sell us a couple! We then had to rush off and find change so we could store them in the coin lockers across the street while we were at the zoo though so this did eat quite a chunk of our time!
We walked a different route through the park this year, the main route, missing out the temple on the way, we did pass another one but sadly didn't have time this trip to go back to it. The park is beautiful though, why can't we have anything like that here?!
We got to the zoo with around four hours left of the day so we just rushed around seeing the main things we wanted to see again, we had spent pretty much the entire day here last August so we weren't really missing anything. But i'm so happy that this year the red pandas were a bit more visible, running around like crazy, chasing each other! I love those little pandas so much.
We headed out just before closing time and had another nice walk through the park. Again, why don't we have nice parks like this?
We picked up our art from the coin lockers and took the train back to Ikebukuro stopping at the Taito Arcade on the way to our hotel as the new Neko Atsume prizes had just been released. And yes, we did win the entire set! We met Pepper the robot here too!
We headed back to the hotel for a quick rest before my fiancé picked us up some dinner and got me some Muhi mosquito bite cream because by this point two of the bites had swelled up so bad that it looked like I had three ankles on my right leg! I had brought Afterbite with me, i've had it since we booked California and, despite still being in date, its the most useless thing I think i've ever bought! Yes, it stopped the itching, but it replaced it with stinging and burning!
My fiance went to do another set of washing at this point according to my notes, and when he got back, after a little talk he said Disneyland!
I don't know if its because I was so miserable and looked like I was growing a third leg or just because he wanted to go but we decided that we'd take a day trip back to Disneyland! Personally, I wanted DisneySea but he wanted Disneyland because we don't ride anything in DisneySea! DisneySea is so beautiful though.
