Japan Haul

Image
Unlike last year, i've pretty much managed to fit everything we bought into one post, theres too much of it to write about it all separately so i'm just going to write about a few of my favourites, then you can scroll down through all of the photographs! DIY Candy Photo 1 If you follow me on Youtube, you'll know that i've kind of got a new obsession with DIY Candy Kits, so I was happy to find a shop full of them in Sunshine City! I picked up seven kits there and then another Shin Chan one later in the trip that i'd never heard of before - I can't even find English instructions for it! Pikachu Pairs Photo 1 & 19 The Pokémon Centre are releasing a new Pikachu Pair every month and I was lucky enough to pick up the rainy season pair, which is one of my favourites! and another pair from the Tokyo Station store. The Ikebukuro store also had a pair in a swimming ring, but I never got time to go back for it on our last day. Neko Atsume Photo 1, ...

Christmas Gift Guide for Web Developers

Image
1: Clean Coders Training Videos Gift Card Every professional software developer should be writing clean code, not only to help them improve but to also maintain their sanity and keep their projects from turning into a maintenance nightmare. Hop over to https://cleancoders.com and at the bottom of the page theres a bit to buy a gift card which you can print a PDF of and pop it in a card which tells them to start with the Uncle Bob series “Clean Code” (if they haven’t already started watching them!) 2: Transparent sticky notes Sometimes, you have a book and you want to make notes in them. This can be annoying when either your notes are no longer relevant or you need to return the book to it’s owner. The solution is some transparent sticky notes! You can write all over anything and not mark the original document. This is good for dealing with things like spec documents and proposals, you can also use it to draw graffiti on holiday photos of people you don’t like. ...

Sunderland Illuminations 2016

Image
Sunderland Illuminations were once again held in Roker Park this year, with the only difference being that you now needed to purchase a £1 ticket to gain entry into the park. A lot of people complained about this charge - but how do people expect the event to cover its costs? It's basically either that or put our taxes up, right? With this new charge in place we found the park a lot less crowded, and there are plenty of new attractions, unlike the last couple of years where it was the same lights each year. The new lights and props also seem more expensive, they include moving attractions like the Dalek and a projection show (I suppose somewhat similar to Disney Dreams at Disneyland Paris) at the park's waterfall. The event was a lot better this year, and i'm glad my favourite attraction - the lights in the pond, were also brought back this year. Follow this blog on BlogLovin' Like us on Facebook

King Con 2016

Image
Where to start! This was our first time attending King Con, in fact, we'd never even heard of it before they made the move to the Stadium of Light - a huge venue with ample space for con-goers, dealers, artists and special guests with plenty of free parking available!. We'd bought early bird tickets which allowed us to enter from 9am - we decided to head in for 10am as our friends had bought standard tickets so wouldn't be arriving until 11. We spent the majority of our time wandering the main dealers hall, before heading upstairs to look around the artists floor before checking out the 3D printers and picking up some bubble tea. We did wander up to the next floor after that, but we think we'd left it too late in the day as we couldn't find what we were looking for and some dealers had already started packing their stalls away by 4:30. There was a small problem at around 11am when the fire alarms went off - just when it had started to rain! But it ...
