Fenwick Christmas Window 2015

Image
This year the theme for the Fenwick Christmas Window display is Santa crashing his sleigh into Fenwick. I headed out to see the window yesterday and saw it once during the morning and then again in the evening once there were less people around and the glass didn't have quite as many reflections in it (during the day you get the buildings, sky, everything, then once it gets dark all you get reflected in the glass are a few shop logos). Here is the video I took for everyone who can't make it there to see it in person, or for anyone who just wants to watch it all over again from their warm, cosy home!  As the window had only been unveiled a few days beforehand the window was still pretty busy even after 7pm so I didn't quite manage to stay in line with the story as I needed to keep people out of view, you can follow the story as written on the windows of each part of the story though. I think this is one of my favourite windows of recent years, definite...

Baking Day

Image
Way back when I was a student ( ok, so I only graduated three years ago, but I feel so old now at 24 ) I used to spend a lot of my free time baking. Mostly biscuits and cookies and making the odd thing I wanted to take a photograph of like Hello Kitty pancakes and rainbow jelly in glasses, but the thing is, since I got a job I just haven't had the time to do any of this anymore. I work all weekend and generally pick up two or three extra late night shifts during the week so I don't get to spend much time with my fiancé now so we spend most of our time together out or planning our holidays etc but now that the weather is getting colder we've started baking a little again and spending more time indoors. Mind you, we're being pretty lazy while we get back into baking. Here's the kits that my fiancé picked up. We decided to start with the Tom & Jerry cupcakes, because they're my childhood favourite, although i'm pretty devastated that the sponge is...

New Tsum Tsum - November 2015

Image
Back on Tuesday the 3rd of November we got four new releases on the Disney Store UK website, these were Peter Pan, Mega Mickey and Minnie, Frozen Olaf set, and Mickey & Friends Christmas Collection. I decided to pass on the Frozen set and after seeing the Mega Mickey and Minnie in the Times Square store I decided to skip on those - at least until we decorate after my Mam gave me the idea that they would be great as a foot rest in the living room. I ordered the full Christmas set and a Peter Pan - after getting up early and intending on going back to bed after I ordered them, in the end I didn't manage to check out until 8:50am as I couldn't find the Christmas set anywhere (it turns out they don't even have Christmas in the listing name on the website!). I also picked up another pair of tsum tsum socks to go with the ones I bought in New York and a set of tsum tsum plates - I saw them in New York but they were too heavy and breakable to force into my suitcas...

Christmas Wishlist Of A Web Developer

Image
I asked my fiancé to compile a list of the top 12 things he and his work friends past and present would want for Christmas and here's what he came up with and why. #12 - A New Cat Calendar Everybody needs a calendar, Lolcats used to make a great calendar but they stopped making it last year. Cat calendars are the best kind of calendar. If you can't find one, get a Dilbert one. #11 Stress Ball In The Shape Of Their Boss (Or A Normal Stress Ball) Sometimes, you just get so angry that what you're thinking of doing will put you away for a very long time, or at least lose your job. Avoid this with a stress ball! Squeeze it like your bosses squidgy brain and rejoice in the knowledge that you haven't killed anybody! #10 - Subscription To Some Nic e Coffees (& A Grinder) There are a few companies out there who will send a new type of coffee bean to you every month. If your significant other doesn't enjoy a cup of coffee then you can al...

New York Avalon Hotel Review

Image
During our trip to New York City we stayed at the Avalon Hotel , it's a relatively small hotel, but one of the nicest i've stayed in. They offer complimentary tea, coffee and hot chocolate on the ground floor and also have a PC and iMac available in the same room - you can also use these to print out your boarding passes, the printer is located behind the check in desk so just let them know before you print them out. When we checked in we were given leaflets, discount vouchers (Including Macy's and M&Ms World) and a gift card for Century 21 of unknown value (we had it checked in the store - it had $5 on it but we were told by Christian who checked us in that it could have anywhere between $5-1000 on it, it's a bit like a lottery). One of our leaflets was for the Empire State Building, if we bought our tickets using that voucher we'd be upgraded to queue jumping tickets, but we already had our tickets so didn't use the voucher. The hotel is just around...

Gamer Gift Idea - Gamer Survival Pack

Image
A couple of years ago I had no idea what to get my little brother for Christmas as all he asks for now is money so he can buy new games. So two years ago I made him a Gamer Survival Pack, it included snacks, an energy drink, Call of Duty pjs, a gamer money box which I had to design myself onto a blank wooden money box, Call of Duty Wallet and keyring, batteries, Steam credit and a few other bits and pieces. This year i'm going to do the same sort of thing but on a slightly smaller scale as the keyring and wallet ended up on eBay but the Steam credit was used within 15min!. I have a box which one of my Mam's birthday presents arrived in from Amazon so i'll be using that as the pack.  Here's whats going in: 1x Monster Energy Drink Galaxy Counters Galaxy Minstrels  Steam Credit Sweets Attack on Titan Keyrings Attack on Titan Bracelet I got the Monster Energy Drink and Candy King sweets in Poundland. The giant Trolli Burger from a shop...
